Taking care of our mental health is just as important as caring for our physical health. Life can throw unexpected challenges our way, and sometimes we need a bit of extra support to navigate through them.
This is where mental health facilities come into play. They offer a nurturing and supportive environment where you can receive professional guidance, participate in therapeutic activities, and learn effective coping strategies.
To make things easier for you, I’ve put together a list of the top mental health facilities in Toronto.
How much do mental health services cost in Toronto?
A private mental health therapy session usually costs $200 per hour in Toronto.
However, please note that prices can vary widely depending on the type of mental health service needed and the provider.
How We Chose
1. Centres for Health & Healing
Services: Medical detox, addiction treatment, mental health treatment, dual diagnosis treatment, and aftercare treatment
Address: 4360 Kirby Rd, Vaughan
Phone number: +1 647-955-6534
Business hours: Available 24/7
One of the prime providers of inpatient mental health treatments in Toronto is the Centres for Health & Healing. They were founded in 2020 by Chris Doyle, a mental health professional with over 25 years of experience.
Their team and facilities are well-equipped to assist those who are suffering from depression, anxiety, burnout, and trauma. And because they’re also an addiction treatment facility, they can provide dual-diagnosis treatments that are designed to tackle both addiction and mental health issues simultaneously.
Aside from their comprehensive treatments, I also appreciate that they don’t leave clients hanging. They offer solid aftercare plans that provide ongoing support, like peer support and medically assisted treatments, to help prevent relapse and keep clients on track to recovery.
On the flip side, it’s disappointing that they require a $3,000 deposit before you can book an appointment.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would!
“If I could give this place 10 stars I would! My common-law partner recently attended treatment here. He refused everything: counseling sessions, gym, and complained about the food wanting Kobe and Wagyu beef. He was being ridiculous. The staff here were patient and understanding. He wasted half the time resisting. He is home now and he is a totally different person. He is grateful for the opportunity and grateful that the staff never gave up on him. These are true professionals who care and want to help. They gave me my person back.
I am forever grateful.”

2. EHN Bellwood Toronto
Services: Inpatient rehab, outpatient therapy, medically supervised detox, holistic treatment, codependency programs, and virtual treatment
Address: 175 Brentcliffe Rd
Phone number: +1 866-349-3869
Business hours:
8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (MON-FRI)
8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (SAT and SUN)
EHN Bellwood Toronto is one of the city’s oldest and most respected mental health facilities. With more than 40 years of experience, they offer both inpatient and outpatient mental health services.
Their service range is impressive, helping patients with PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance addiction, and more. They even offer codependency treatment to support those dealing with the challenges of helping a loved one with mental health issues.
Thankfully, it’s not hard to enjoy many of EHN’s services, as most of them are offered under their virtual treatment program. This program employs various techniques, including cognitive behavioural therapy, to address mental health issues in just eight weeks.
However, it’s worth noting that their services can be quite expensive. It might be prudent to explore other options if cost is a concern.
All in all a very holistic treatment experience!
“I was at a very low point in my life and I could not pull myself out of my mental health issues on my own.
Bellwood is expensive but I would recommend it to anyone seeking help. The medical staff are really thorough, I had the longest appointments I have ever had with physicians at the facility. The counselors are very professional, empathetic and most importantly they challenge you. The sessions I had with Josh, Lynn and Edward were quite fruitful. They also have very passionate and caring physical recreation staff. I really enjoyed the walks, yoga and gym time with Wendy.
Also as an alumni, you are able to come back in the evening to twelve step groups and do volunteer roles.
All in all a very holistic treatment experience!”

They helped me find myself again
“Without Bellwood I wouldn’t be able to make this post. I went there to find a welcoming atmosphere, and felt that my journey towards a sober living was important to everyone there. They educated me on many things I needed for my sober life after living in the Bellwood Bubble. They prepared me for my aftercare and let me stay in touch with my family while I was there. I never felt isolated or trapped there, after years of living isolated and trapped in the addicts way of life. They helped me find myself again and gave me hope that I can live sober for the many years ahead. Thank you Bellwood!”

3. Youthdale Treatment Centre
Services: Crisis support, sensory rooms, court-ordered admissions, family therapy, medical consultations, and more
Address: 227 Victoria St
Phone number: +1 416-368-4896
Business hours: Available 24/7
As their name suggests, Youthdale Treatment Centres focus on providing crucial mental health services to children, youth, and young adults. They’ve been around since 1969 and are one of the more affordable options due to being a nonprofit organization.
One of the best things I can highlight about them is their crisis support team that’s ready to provide assistance 24/7.
It’s also commendable that they offer comprehensive inpatient treatments, including their Step-Up/Step-Down Program. This program is designed to provide flexible, long-term care to young people facing complex mental health symptoms.
Additionally, they offer the Transitional Age Unit, which primarily targets those in their transitional age, between 18 and 24 years old.
However, due to high demand, Youthdale tends to see a high number of patients regularly, leading to limited availability for new patients.
The facility is clean and well kept
“My teen was accepted into the ASU at Youthdale recently. The intake process was easy and smooth. The staff were extremely helpful, kind and caring. My teen was there for 3 weeks and we visited twice a week. The staff were lovely, I had contact every day with my child and nearly everyday with the psychiatrist, social worker or other staff. The facility is clean and well kept. The staff really tried to get my teen to engage in the process and programming. They baked and cooked with staff, did art therapy, school, gym, met with the psychiatrist and social worker etc. They made it clear that they encourage a team approach and that they want the best for these kids. I would recommend Youthdale to teens who are struggling.”

My most memorable time in my life was with Youthdale
“I was one of Youthdale 1st kids back in the days we had the first house in Thornhill. Then I moved to Aurora. My most memorable time in my life was with Youthdale. I will always remember Dan Hagler and how nice he was to all of us. I just loved the staff we had also. My name at that time was Deborah Smith. Went to school in Richmond Hill and we had to drive each day from Aurora. I would love to find some of the people who lived there when I did. My review of Youthdale was a good one; they were the only family I ever had. Thank you Dan Hagler and staff for the work you did with me. I am a mother of 4 children and Grandma of 12 grandchildren and always tell the funny story I had at Youthdale.”

4. RISE Anxiety & Depression Psychology Clinic

Address: 500 Queens Quay W Suite 108
Phone number: +1 437-374-1068
Business hours:
9:00 AM – 9:00 PM (MON-FRI)
9:00 AM – 11:00 PM (SAT and SUN)
If you’re on the lookout for a supportive and inclusive mental health clinic in Toronto, RISE Anxiety & Depression Psychology Clinic could be just what you need. Founded in 2018 by Robert Wise, they have a team of mental health professionals who are highly sensitive to the specific needs of patients from the LGBTQ+ community.
They offer a wide range of services, including psychotherapy, burnout treatment, couples counselling, and teen therapy.
What’s impressive is that they also provide specialized treatments like their NeurOptimal Neurofeedback. This non-invasive brain training method uses EEG sensors to help your brain self-correct and improve its functionality. It’s great for reducing stress, enhancing focus, and improving sleep.
However, one of their main drawbacks is the lack of inpatient services. This limitation means they may not be able to assist all patients who might require more intensive, round-the-clock care.

I felt welcomed and supported
“As someone who was struggling with anxiety for years, I was initially hesitant to seek help, but from the moment I met Lisa I felt welcomed and supported. Lisa is a highly skilled and compassionate professional, who genuinely cares. Additionally, she helped me and my husband to strengthen our marriage through couple counselling and the guidance we received was invaluable. I cannot recommend Lisa enough to anyone seeking support for anxiety and relationship issues. Lisa truly changed my life.”

5. Canadian Mental Health Association
Services: Addiction rehabilitation, dialectical behaviour therapy, early psychosis intervention, in-patient care, mental health workshops, and more
Address: 700 Lawrence Ave W #480, North York
Phone number: +1 416-789-7957
Business hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM (MON-FRI)
Another non-profit organization that offers a wide range of mental health services is the Canadian Mental Health Association. Established in 1953, it has grown to operate 26 sites across the city, serving over 15,000 individuals each year.
Here in Toronto, they offer services like addiction rehabilitation, dialectical behaviour therapy, and the Early Psychosis Intervention Program. One particular service of theirs that caught my eye is their Lurie Housing Program, which offers 24/7 drop-in support and case management services to individuals experiencing homelessness.
Another notable service is the Extreme Cleaning and Hoarding Support Program. It provides free cleaning services and mental wellness assistance to seniors who have strong hoarding tendencies.
Unfortunately, there’s always an extremely high demand for most of their services. You’ll most likely encounter long wait times before you can book an appointment with one of their mental health professionals.

It has been a joy to come here
“Just amazing. The staff is so organized and professional. I love my first therapist I had there. She was attentive, caring, and so encouraging. She met my needs very well and I was able to be myself. My second therapist has also been amazing. I can tell she cares and she keeps telling me she wants to work with me constantly. The actual DBT program I am in is so inspiring and helpful. The groups are always laid out so well, the booklets are so detailed, and the lessons they give are always detailed and assistive. They respect individual impairments and are always respectful of your space and emotions. There is always drinks and sometimes food, as well as resources (markers, toys, things to play with), etc. Everything is comprehensive and it has been a joy to come here. I have never encountered a negative person, and when negative situations have come up, they have been supportive. Even the receptionist always says hi and asks how I am. They have a great job assistance program and it has helped me get my first job after getting a disability and valuable skills in that field. They help me sort my paperwork and remain productive. I love it here. Thank you so much for all the support from this place. I recommend through and through coming here for any of your needs. They offer even more programming than I mentioned and it is always loving here. Easily accessible and informative. I hope people have had a similar experience to me!”
