Fortunately, I can just rent another car when it’s time for my long trips. The best part is that I can choose the vehicle depending on the situation. If I’m driving alone, a small car could work, but if I’m bringing people, a truck or a van would be better.
Here are the best car rentals in Toronto if you also need one for exploring the city and beyond.

Renting a car in Toronto usually costs around C$40 per day. That said, it’s possible for the rate to be higher, especially if you choose a more high-end brand or a vehicle with a bigger size.

Advantage Car and Truck Rentals is one of my favourite rental companies because they have 10 locations within the GTA and even in nearby towns like Mississauga and Pickering!
The fleet here is impressive. Their cars are all modern models, so they have features like Bluetooth capability, cruise control, and airbags. They can also seat up to five or seven people!
If you prefer a truck rental or a van rental, they have these options, too. They even have a 16-foot truck, which is incredibly spacious—perfect if you’re relocating!
I also love the general experience of renting a car here. It’s fast and hassle-free to book it, and upon returning, the staff is also quick to inspect it and give me my deposit refund.
Do take note, though, that most of the vehicles here are automatic, which can be a problem for people who only know how to drive a stick shift.
Additionally, I recommend taking photos of the car before and after you rent it. This is because I’ve heard stories of clients getting charged for general wear and tear, even though these worn marks have been there before.

A popular rental company, Enterprise Rent-A-Car has many locations in Toronto. These outlets are located along busy streets, and they have big signs, too, so you really can’t miss them.
Their selection is amazing. They have usual brands like Nissan, Kia, and Toyota, but they also have premium vehicles like Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac, and Porsche, if you want to drive in style.
I like that you can customize your booking experience. If you want to save time, you can book a one-way rental instead (you don’t have to go back to the outlet to return the car). And if you’ll be here for some time, you can book a long-term rental.
The staff is welcoming, and sometimes, they even add perks for clients for free! One client shared that he was new to the city, and he booked a small car. It wasn’t enough to fit him and his belongings, so the staff gave him a free upgrade.
That said, if you can’t pick up your rental on time, Enterprise will only hold it for an hour before you lose your reservation. This can be frustrating, especially when other rental companies are more flexible in this regard.

Amazing customer service
“I’m quite satisfied with the customer service and the whole check-in process that I received from this branch. I called the day before my rental reservation to confirm my reservation details, the guy on the phone was so helpful and friendly. City Car and Truck Rental only has one location in the GTA, which is a bummer, especially when other rental companies have several outlets in the region. Still, this rental company is conveniently located near the Toronto Pearson International Airport.
To make things better, this rental company actually has a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. This is a convenient feature which I love!
Another reason that I recommend this company is their affordable rates. You can rent a car for as low as C$20.99 per day, which I think is a steal! As for the bigger and premium cars, the prices range between C$25.99 and C$69.99 per day.
I have to commend the customer service as well. The staff is friendly and efficient, and Rahul, in particular, makes sure to explain how car insurance works if an accident happens. He’s not pushy with selling their insurance, which I appreciate.

What I like most about Bristol Car Rental and Truck Rental Toronto is the booking experience. It’s quick and seamless, saving me a lot of time and energy!
I also really like that they offer free customer pick-up and drop-off. The rental company is already in a great location, so there’s no need for this feature, but the fact that they offer this shows how willing they are to provide convenience to their clients.
The lineup of cars is also pretty great. They have cars of all sizes (from compact to full-size), and they also carry SUVs, trucks, and vans if you want something bigger.
What if you really like one of the cars here? Then, you’ll be delighted to hear that you can buy a used car from them!
That said, the main downside of this rental company is their prices. The base rate is technically okay, but there are many hidden fees, which balloon the final bill. This is so frustrating to me, and I’m sure other people agree.
Fortunately, they do have special promos active from time to time, so you can get a discount to save some money.
