Enterprise is a globally known rental company, with outlets in France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, the UK, and the US. So, I wasn’t surprised when I discovered that they also have several locations in Canada, especially in Toronto.
The outlets are conveniently situated in the city and throughout the GTA; they’re along busy and well-known streets, and they have giant signs. So, it’s pretty easy to find an outlet, even if you’ve never been to one.
The main reason why many Toronto locals prefer Enterprise is its selection of vehicles—there are just so many options! If you’re like me, who loves going on road trips, the spacious vans with up to nine seats are good enough, and if you’re moving to a new place, you can rent one of the cargo vans. Minivans are available here as well, which are perfect for small groups.
The vehicles are also well-maintained. Every time I rent a van here, I forget that I’m only renting because the van looks and smells brand new. Even my sister, who’s obsessed with cleanliness, agrees that the vans we rent here are pretty clean.
They don’t have set prices on their website, which can be both a good thing and a bad thing. On one hand, first-time clients have no idea what to expect because the company hasn’t provided them with a price range. But on the other hand, the pricing is flexible, so you can negotiate a lower rate if need be.
Also, this company often offers discounts and special promotions, so it’s possible for the price to go even lower.
The one downside to this rental company is that since it’s popular, it’s always busy, even on a weekday. So, you might have to wait for some time before you can rent a car.
Also, I’ve heard that the busy nature of the rental company is the reason why some of the staff here are rude sometimes.

Advantage Car and Truck Rentals has many locations across the GTA, and all of them are in convenient locations—along streets that see a lot of foot traffic.
The one in downtown Toronto is the most conveniently located; it’s within walking distance to many hotels, and it’s also near busy roads like Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway. That’s why that’s my go-to location.
This rental company is actually best known for their moving trucks, but they also have other vehicles available for rent.
When it comes to vans, the selection isn’t super impressive, especially when compared to other rental companies. They only have a minivan that can accommodate up to seven passengers and a cargo van that can seat two. This limitation definitely narrows down their clientele.
Despite their lack of other options, this rental company compensates by making sure that the vans they have are spick and span. The exterior gleams, and the interior smells nice with an air freshener. A friend once joked that it almost felt like a crime to eat snacks inside the van because we’d just get everything dirty.
I also love the staff here. They’re patient and efficient, even when things are a bit busy in the office. As a result, the process feels easy and seamless, even when there’s a long queue and I have to wait for some time to take my turn.

I first heard about Bristol Car Rental and Truck Rental from a friend who told me that this rental company has no waiting time, letting you book your vehicle as soon as possible!
Curious, I tried it out, and to my delight, she was right. I didn’t have to wait long to get my van, and even other loyal patrons have shared the same sentiment. That’s impressive, considering that rental companies tend to be busy.
The fast booking experience is all thanks to the staff working here. They’re efficient; with just a few questions, they already have a van recommendation ready for you, and if you don’t like it, don’t worry because they have another one lined up. In addition to their efficiency, they’re kind and patient as well, which I greatly appreciate.
Of course, we have to talk about their vans. They have an amazing variety here; you have the classic passenger minivans that can hold up to 15 passengers, but they also have cargo vans in case you need to relocate and you don’t want to hire a U-Haul truck.
They even have refrigerated cargo vans and 16-foot-cube vans! I don’t know if I’ll ever have to use these vehicles, but it’s nice to know that I have the option if need be.
I also really like that the vans are always cleaned and sanitized after every rental use. And true enough, the vans smell like they’ve just been cleaned; the scent is undeniably alcohol, but the fragrant kind.
That said, do keep in mind that the prices are pretty expensive here. The smallest minivan usually clocks in at around C$229, and the bigger ones are priced at C$339 or higher. That doesn’t even take into account all the other fees you have to pay, like the vehicle maintenance fee and tax.
Fortunately, the company often has special promotions, so you can score a discount to lower the rate.
Also, did you know that Bristol sells vehicles as well? If you’re planning to buy a secondhand van, this is a great place to start!

AVIS Canada is a pretty well-known rental company both in the US and Canada, so I’m not surprised that it’s one of the go-to rental places for many Toronto locals.
The staff is what I love the most about this rental company. They’re friendly and accommodating, and they’ll make sure that the entire process is smooth and seamless.
They’re patient as well; there are times when I come here and the customers ahead of me are rude or frustrated about something, and the people behind the desk are holding their ground well, listening to the issue with no fuss and coming up with a suggestion almost immediately.
The vehicles here are amazing as well. They’re clean and sanitized after every use, and they’re equipped with various modern technologies. To be more specific, they have child safety seats and GPS navigation.
The vehicle is also equipped with SiriusXM Radio, so if you’re running out of entertainment options, just turn on the stereo and listen to the most recent chart-topping bops.
I also really like the fact that long-term rental arrangements are possible here. This is great news for people who are staying in Toronto for an indeterminate time, in need of transportation in the city, but can’t justify the daily rates of most rental companies.
The best part is that you can book for a one- to 11-month rental setup, and you can cancel anytime!
Another great thing about Avis Rental is the fact that they have their own app. This lets you book your van and pay the fees right from the comfort of your own home. Oh, and you might be able to score discounts that are exclusive to the app. What a perk!
The only bad thing about this company is that their van selection is lacking. It seems like they’re always running out of van options, forcing you to choose another vehicle or find another rental company. This can be very annoying, and I hope they add more vans to their stock.
