5 Best Fire Protection Companies in Toronto You Can Trust with Your Life

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

When I began the search for solid fire protection in Toronto for my business, I was surprised by how many companies were either vague or too slow to respond. I wanted pros who knew their stuff and didn’t waste time.

After weeks of calls and site visits, a handful of firms managed to impress me. If you’re serious about keeping your building safe, these are the ones worth calling first.

How much do fire protection companies charge in Toronto?

Fire protection costs in Toronto vary by building size and system complexity. Basic annual fire system inspections for small properties start from $300 to $1,000, while larger commercial setups can reach $2,000 or more.
High-rise buildings may pay $15,000 to $20,000 yearly for full system checks,
Fire extinguisher services typically cost $10 to $15 per unit for inspection, and $15 to $50 for recharging. Expect to pay $40 to $100 per extinguisher for annual certifications.

How We Chose the Best

Licensing and certifications – We ensured that they’re certified by the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) and strictly follow Ontario Fire Code regulations.
Quick response time – Speedy response is critical in fire emergencies, so we looked for companies that do so (bonus if they have round-the-clock support).
Comprehensive services – We looked for firms that handle everything, from system design, installation, inspection, maintenance, to extinguishers.
Clear pricing and reports – To display professionalism and accountability, we prefer companies offering transparent quotes, detailed inspection reports, and no hidden fees.

1. Apollo Fire Systems

Apollo Fire Systems came highly recommended (aside from being BBB accredited), so I gave them a call for a fire alarm inspection. Their team showed up on time, fully equipped, and clearly knew their code requirements.

They walked me through every step of the inspection, flagged issues, and offered practical fixes without overselling. I liked their final report, too: clean, detailed, and easy to file for compliance.

I also appreciated the company’s emergency support. They actually answer calls after hours and can dispatch techs fast! That’s something not every provider in Toronto does consistently.

Apollo handled both alarm systems and extinguishers, which saved me from booking a second vendor. They didn’t add any sneaky add-ons when pricing and billing came, so phew!

One downside: their schedules fill up fast, so don’t expect last-minute bookings. Also, while solid on technical service, they’re a bit lean on post-service follow-up unless you nudge them.

Pros

  • BBB accredited (A+ rating)
  • Full-spectrum services
  • Emergency response
  • Transparent pricing and certification

Cons

  • Bookings fill quickly
  • Minimal proactive follow-up

Customer reviews

They are always available and ready to help

Apollo Fire Systems has been a trusted go-to for me and my company. They are always available and ready to help, even on short notice. The entire team are friendly and professional and seems to really care about ensuring the job is done right and that the customer is satisfied. 10 out of 10 for service reliability.

They did the original installation to perfection

We at Le Papillon on the Park Restaurant have been dealing with Apollo for over 8 years now. They did the original installation to perfection and have been maintaining my fire extinguishers on a regular basis and my fire suppression system without fail. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a good, reasonably priced and professional company.

My father’s business needed a quick fire extinguisher service, and H2O responded the same day, arriving within hours and getting the building compliant fast. Their technician, Andy, was knowledgeable, friendly, and explained each step clearly.

They handle both residential and commercial needs with over 45 years of experience, along with state-of-the-art tools. In one go, my dad was able to get service for extinguisher inspections, emergency lights, and alarm checks, too.

As for pricing, they were reasonable, with clear cost breakdowns and no hidden fees surfacing after service. My dad also said the team’s promptness saved him from expensive fines, and that communication stayed solid from booking through invoicing.

All in all, the entire company felt confident in H2O’s compliance knowledge and was pleased with the techs arriving fully prepped.

It isn’t a BBB-accredited company, though. Also, while they’re excellent for emergency lighting and extinguishers, they’re not typically the go-to for full alarm or sprinkler system installations.

Pros

  • Speedy same-day service
  • Clear, honest pricing
  • Handles commercial and residential clients

Cons

  • Limited to portable and basic systems
  • No BBB accreditation

Customer reviews

The team was quick and efficient

Definitely five stars! The team was quick and efficient. I had all of my inspections completed promptly, and everything from the initial booking to the invoicing was professional and personable. H20 has a great team!

When I reached out to Safety First Ontario for a full fire suppression installation system, their team responded quickly and arrived on schedule with all the necessary equipment. The lead tech explained the design, installation, and maintenance plan to me, minus confusing jargon.

Their service didn’t stop at installation; they handled annual inspections, extinguisher checks, and emergency lighting in a single sweep. Post-service, I also received clear, organized documentation that made compliance reporting easier.

The company’s over 45 years in business and full-spectrum service gave me peace of mind; that, and the strong recommendation rate via its customer reviews, such as on Google and Facebook (92% rating).

It’s not a BBB-accredited company, though, if you’re the type to look for a formal trust seal online. And while Safety First Ontario is great on suppression systems and maintenance, they don’t specialize in large-scale retrofits or complex sprinkler designs.

Pros

  • Over four decades of industry experience
  • 24/7 emergency response
  • Full spectrum services

Cons

  • No specialization in alarm retrofits
  • No BBB accreditation

Customer reviews

This company has fair pricing, attentive service professionals

After using multiple mediocre hood and safety companies for restaurants I have run, I had the pleasure of being introduced to Safety First. This company has fair pricing, attentive service professionals and by far the best client services that I have experienced. The techs took the time to explain what they were doing, what I should be looking for in terms of preventative maintenance, and on top of that, they were insanely personable and hilarious! I’m trying to make them regulars at the brewpub, as they were so much fun! I highly recommend this business to all of my colleagues and would not use anyone else.

Regular service and emergency service are fast and top-notch

Office staff, Derrick and Kay, are amazing to work with and very helpful. Regular service and emergency service are fast and top-notch. Mechanics that show up for sprinklers, fire alarms, kitchen suppression systems and annual inspections are all great people, super friendly and knowledgeable. We, the CAA Center, have been with safety first for probably 15 years now and all around great company. As a facility manager, I have numerous companies trying to get into our business, and no one will ever come close to the service and price I get from Safety First.

My best bud has a startup that required an upgrade on his fire suppression system, so he reached out to Mainline Fire Protection to address it. The company’s digital onboarding made scheduling and reminders seamless, which instantly reduced his administrative load.

He said that during installation, the technicians were professional and efficient, so that minimized disruption to his business. They also ended up handling annual inspections, extinguisher servicing, alarm testing, and emergency lighting for him, all in one visit!

Post-service digital reports came quickly, too. My friend was impressed by them being incredibly detailed, so he was ready for compliance record-keeping without much ado.

As for me, I put them to the test with a late-night concern, and their 24/7 emergency response showed that they truly deliver on that promise.

However, while Mainline covers everything well, smaller businesses with tight budgets might find their streamlined digital-first process less personal compared to boutique providers.

Pros

  • 24/7 emergency services and support
  • Fully digital process
  • Comprehensive, in-house services

Cons

  • Not ideal for smaller businesses
  • No BBB accreditation

Customer reviews

One time, I needed my extinguishers inspected outside of the scheduled dates, so I called Safety Pros Fire Protection. They delivered fast, with a no-fuss service right at my location. Their mobile setup saved me a trip and made the whole process convenient, though some clients wish they had a walk-in shop, too.

They’ve been around for over a decade and know the ins and outs of fire safety, from extinguishers to lighting systems. I found their technicians polite, efficient, and had all the gear ready to go.

The pricing was competitive; one of the better quotes I’ve received in Toronto for the same scope of work. Past customers seem to echo my experience, with emphasis on their responsiveness and fair rates.

It isn’t a BBB-accredited company, which may matter if you’re looking for third-party validation. Also, beyond extinguishers and lighting, there’s not enough detail about alarm systems or emergency protocols.

Pros

  • Over a decade of service
  • Mobile service convenience
  • Competitive and transparent pricing

Cons

  • No physical walk-in office
  • No BBB accreditation
