I hit that point where I just couldn’t stomach another sky-high electricity bill. Instead of grumbling, I finally did something about it—I went solar.
Luckily, I found a local supplier who didn’t just sell me panels and walk away. They actually came around, helped me figure out the best spot for them, and set me up with gear that’s been running like a dream for months.
It feels good to have lighter bills while also cutting down my carbon footprint.
Since I know plenty of folks in Toronto are feeling the same pinch, I’ve pulled together a list of the best solar panel suppliers in town.
How much does a solar panel system cost in Toronto?
In Toronto, the average cost of a solar panel system is about $14,000 for a 5 kW setup, $20,000 for a 7 kW setup, and $27,000 for a 10 kW setup. The final price can vary depending on the quality of the panels, the type of inverter you choose, and how complex your roof layout is.

A high-quality, professional installation
“The Polaron team was professional and friendly, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. I was able to reach out with questions at every step. I recommend Polaron if you are looking to lower your carbon footprint. A high-quality, professional installation was completed in August 2023. No issues or concerns to date, except that one micro-inverter went dead after 1.5 years. Polaron quickly replaced the faulty inverter. I am looking to add a backup battery to my solar system so I can power my house at night, too.”

Amazing service for our solar project.
“Amazing service for our solar project. I can’t speak highly enough on how pleased I am to have went with this company. The finance options were a huge surprise. From start to finish the planning and install went without headaches nor any confusion. As for after the install the yearly amount produced definitely exceeded my expectations. I had one electric bill over the connection fee in nearly 12 months. The app that comes with the panels has never been down and is actually fun to watch and see the production. All in all if you can go for it you won’t be sorry.”

2. Solar X Inc.

Products offered: Black-on-black solar panels, solar awnings, solar shingles, solar cladding, Tesla Powerwall, and more
Address: 955 Bay St., Suite 2307
Phone number: +1 833-376-5279
Business hours: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM (MON-FRI)
I went with Solar X, and honestly, my experience was solid. They gave me a free assessment that felt straightforward and not pushy, which helped me figure out if solar made sense for my place.
I ended up going with their black-on-black panels, and they look sharp on the roof. They also offer solar shingles if you want something more discreet, though those come at a higher price.
It’s reassuring that they cover their panels with a 25-year warranty. I also liked that they have a recycling program for old panels since disposing of them properly can be tricky.
Their financing was a big help, too, because I used their Greener Homes loan to spread out the cost.
On the flip side, I had to wait a bit for installation since their services were in high demand.
Solar X is amazing
“Solar X is amazing. From initial contact through to sales and installation we were impressed with their staff and contractors. Even more impressive was their patience and expertise with bureaucracy and red tape. Our 14.88 kW system is performing flawlessly and even on winter days often pushes the maximum load into the grid. We just received the paperwork from our utility for the last ten months: a total bill of $455.32 and a net generation credit of $1,011.06. Highly recommend!”

They were amazing to deal with
“I wanted to take advantage of carbon tax money and get solar. Except no one I know had solar and could not get a personal reference. I took a chance on Solar-X. They were amazing to deal with. I know a lot about electricity and wiring and these guys did it right. No surprise charges or other BS. Did the job competently and cleanly. Highly recommend.”

3. CMI Solar

Products offered: Residential and commercial solar panel systems, battery storage solutions, and EV chargers
Address: 4560 Eastgate Pkwy, Mississauga
Phone number: +1 416-559-7657
Business hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (MON-FRI)
I checked out CMI Solar, and they seem like a solid option if you’re looking to cut down the upfront cost of solar panels. They’re Canadian-owned and carry an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, which gave me some confidence.
What stood out to me was the financing. They advertise interest-free loans up to $40,000, and their Match Bill plan means your monthly payments line up with what you usually pay Toronto Hydro, so you’re not paying extra to go green.
Furthermore, they guide you through the Greener Homes rebate, which can knock off up to $10,000 from your total bill. Net metering is another perk since you can earn credits when you send extra power back to the grid.
The only major drawback is that they don’t share panel brands until you book a free energy consultation. That’s inconvenient if you’re still comparing options.
The process with them was so easy
“We have decided to go with CMI Solar to install solar panels for our home. They are amazing. The process with them was so easy, and it wouldn’t have been that easy if it weren’t for Shwetha; she is incredibly responsive and always answers calls and replies instantly. CMI also helps with energy audits, governmental loans, etc, so you don’t have to worry about anything. They did everything and just guided us through the whole process. Furthermore, the quality of their work is unmatched. If I were to restart this project, I would choose them over again! Highly recommend.”

Everything was done smoothly and correctly
“I recently had a system solar installed on my home by CMI Solar and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! The sales team run by Eryc was smooth from the get go. The project team was fantastic from start to finish. Special thanks to Satbir for commissioning the system and being there at every step of the install. Thayna managed to achieve a full 100% offset which was amazing! She took the time to review my first bill—explaining how the system works and offering tips on saving even more energy to send back to the grid. Nilesh managed all the permits and coordinated with the hydro company to ensure everything was done smoothly and correctly. Shwetha did a good job with the communication at every point.
Highly recommend CMI Solar for their professionalism and commitment to quality!”

If you’re planning to move fully into renewable energy, Solify is worth a look. They’re based in North York and focus on helping homeowners transition toward Net Zero living.
They can set up your home to rely on solar energy while also improving insulation to reduce energy loss. Of course, they can also provide the usual solar systems from reputable names like Tesla.
What stood out to me is their 25-year production guarantee, which means if the panels don’t deliver as promised, they cover the difference.
Another highlight is their support with grants and rebates, including programs like the Enbridge Herx Rebate. They also offer interest-free loans and free consultations to make the process easier.
However, a few people I spoke with said Solify sometimes misses appointments. Others mentioned they can be pushy with sales tactics, which is frustrating.
The install went very smoothly and quickly
“Randy and Victor looked after us well this summer. They were very helpful, knowledgeable, and communication was excellent with us as we navigated this solar project. Once we decided what our solar plan was, the install went very smoothly and quickly. They took care of so many things we may have missed if we were doing this on our own. They also coordinated the Greener Home audit and helped with the rebate program forms. We are enjoying our greatly reduced hydro bill! Thanks guys.”

5. Solar Power Store Canada

Products offered: Solar panels, inverters, batteries, racking systems, complete solar kits, and accessories
Address: 526 Bryne Dr c, Barrie
Phone number: +1 888-421-5354
Business hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (MON-FRI)
Solar Power Store Canada is probably the one I’d pick if we’re talking about variety. They carry a wide range of solar panels from manufacturers such as Mapleleaf, Thornova, and Longi.
What I like is how they try to make things more affordable with bundles and packages that combine panels, inverters, batteries, and racking into one piece.
They also offer custom system designs to make sure your setup fits your property, and they can help with permits so you don’t have to deal with that hassle yourself.
For anyone going the DIY route, free delivery is available on orders over $5,500, which is a nice perk.
The downside is that delivery can be hit or miss. Some customers reported panels arriving later than expected, while others said their orders showed up incomplete.
Easy online shopping and good prices
“Easy online shopping and good prices. Pickup went smoothly at the Barrie store.”

I don’t think you can go wrong with this company!
“I’ve purchased two separate systems from this store with success. The help centre is top notch and well versed in troubleshooting. I don’t think you can go wrong with this company!”

6. mySolar

Products offered: Solar panels and EV charging stations
Address: 3176 Ridgeway Dr #60, Mississauga
Phone number: +1 800-599-2641
Business hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (MON-FRI)
mySolar seems like a practical choice if you want to get into solar without worrying about sketchy equipment. They only use Tier 1 panels and gear, which, according to the Bloomberg New Energy Finance classification, are products made by reputable manufacturers.
On top of that, every system comes with a 25-year performance guarantee, so it’s safe to assume their panels are built to last. They also handle maintenance, which is nice if you want someone reliable to keep things running smoothly.
It’s a good thing that they offer assistance in securing government incentives, like the Greener Homes program. Financing is also available, with interest-free loans up to $40,000.
Sadly, there were some reports of mySolar cancelling appointments at the last minute and failing to respond to enquiries.
The system delivers as promised!
“From initial quote to final commissioning, the mySolar team has kept us informed and ensured that our process was as smooth as it could be with all the moving parts (applications, assessments, building permit, weather!).
The installation is neat and tidy, from the roof to the wiring to the electrical panel. The included module monitoring provides a simple view of panel performance and energy generation (instantaneous and cumulative).
In the end, the system delivers as promised!”
-Peter Humphries, Google Reviews
We are very happy with mySolar
“We had discussed solar over the last few years, but didn’t know enough to commit. Michael showed up and did a great job of explaining how they design the panels for our roof and how many are required for our electrical needs. And lots of room if we want more panels. There was no pressure to do the install, but it felt like a good fit for us. A whole team showed up to make sure everything would be done safely before the install. The install was done quickly and cleanup was great. Dakota was great in helping us with the Greener Homes loan portal, which got confusing at times. We are seeing the results with our Hydro bill dropping and we love the app to see how much energy we are saving daily. We are very happy with mySolar.”
