How much do deck builders charge in Toronto?
In Toronto, deck building pricing varies a lot by material and finish level. For example, pricing per square foot of pressure-treated wood is C$50 to $75, and cedar is C$70 to $90.
Permit fees are often C$200 to $300, plus designer/drawing fees.
Composite decks commonly cost around C$90 to $140 per square foot installed. For a standard 300-sq ft deck, that usually works to about C$27,000 to $42,000.
Where you end up in that range depends on the board brand (Trex, Azek, or TimberTech), the railing choice (glass typically costs more than aluminum), and practical build factors like site access, as tight spaces, difficult carrying routes, or complex layouts tend to push labour and logistics up.

Beyond labour, they pitch custom decks and outdoor structures within a start-to-finish process. I liked their grown-up compliance talk; they state that their team is licensed, insured, and WSIB-compliant, which is exactly the paperwork I was looking for.
They also lean into permits and approvals. That matters in Toronto because an uncovered deck can stay permit-exempt if it’s not more than 24 inches above the adjacent grade and still meets zoning.

The downside? Because they’re geared toward premium, low-maintenance systems, they may not be the best fit for those chasing a bare-bones budget wood deck.

They design and build everything: decks, fences, gates, pergolas, gazebos, plus landscaping and hardscaping. They also offer deck drawings and permit services, and literally told my neighbour to “leave the permits to us.”
I appreciate that they push a free estimate flow, which is exactly what you want when trying to price a make-it-look-custom rebuild. Design-wise, their portfolio isn’t just basic rectangles, but features poolside builds and multi-level projects with more complex layouts.
They’re ideal for clients wanting a full backyard makeover vibe, such as a deck with matching structures and surrounding landscape. I’d recommend them instead of hiring separate trades and hoping everything matches!
But their broader scope may not sit well with those needing labour-only installation with no design or permit help. Moreover, they don’t really offer a browse-and-compare showroom experience.

He loves using this shop to spec the right system and buy it properly. He likes touching the boards before committing, so the Vaughan showroom/warehouse is like his builder’s haven. He can see display options, grab some free samples, and even do same-day pickup!
They’re ideal for clients who already have tools and hands and just need the good stuff in stock, fast. Their key services cover product guidance, showroom comparison, and supply logistics, plus deck permit drawings via the Decks Toronto side.
My brother-in-law often recommends them for premium wood and high-end composite/PVC sourcing. They’re especially useful when you’re choosing between Trex, AZEK, TimberTech, and Fiberon and want to match railings and finishes.
That said, if you’re looking for a true design-build contractor who handles everything on-site from footings to final inspection, they aren’t that. You’ll still need a qualified installer to get your deck project started.
