As we shiver through January, there’s a warm beacon of joy on the horizon—Winterfolk XXIII! It’ll be held from February 14 until 16 at the beloved Tranzac Club on 292 Brunswick Avenue.
Celebrating its 23rd year, Winterfolk is set to delight us with an incredible array of folk, blues, and roots music.
I, for one, can’t wait to see the stellar lineup gracing the stages. We’re in for a treat with performances by musical guests such as Michael Jerome Browne, Dala, Donné Roberts, Russell deCarle, Amanda Rheaume, and Tannis Slimmon.
The festival promises to keep things fresh and engaging with a variety of unique shows. Kicking off on February 14, we’ll be treated to the “Valentine Voices” event—a night dedicated to celebrating the power of female musicians.
Then on February 15, a special event called “The Blues of Winterfolk” will showcase the Toronto Blues Society’s rising star, Jesse Greene.

To wrap things up beautifully, the spotlight on February 16 will shine on local talents Ken Whiteley, Michael Jerome Browne, and Amanda Rheaume, ensuring a heartwarming finale to the festivities.
But it’s not just the performances that have me excited. There will be workshops and sessions, including additional guitar sessions, which are perfect for anyone looking to dive deeper into their musical passion.
