Toronto Theatre - Royal Alexandra Theatre

Built by father and son duo of David and Ed Mirvish, the dazzling theatre first opened its door in 1993 with the musical ‘Miss Saigon’ and since then it has hosted several top-notch, avant-garde musicals and plays including The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Les Miserables, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Oliver!, Hairspray, Cabaret, The Sound of Music, War Horse and few others.

It boasts incredibly impeccable sound system, exceptional sight-lines and extremely comfy seats. You will be amazed to find that with all its modern facilities, the Princess of Wales Theatre still offers the charm and intimacy of a traditional, old-world theatre.

The 2,000 seats theatre has one of the largest stages in North America, which makes this landmark venue one of the finest theatres in Toronto for large-scale, grand theatrical productions.

The theatre’s lobbies and lounges feature an extraordinary fusion of conventional and contemporary art work by the award winning interior designer Yabu-Pushelberg. The marvellous Venetian terrazzo floors, glowing glass and tile mosaics, blown-glass lamps, hand-made metal light fixtures and the mahogany woodwork will definitely leave you spellbound for a long time.

The colourful murals on the interior walls and ceiling dome by distinguished artist Frank Stella are real treat for your eyes!

With best of the both – traditional and modern world, the Princess of Wales Theatre has succeeded in attracting a great deal of attention and accolades in a very short time. It is a crystal-clear sign that the theatre will only grow to be grander.
