I’m sure everyone will agree with me when I say that every marriage has its rough patches. Maybe it’s stress from work or feeling like you’re not connecting the way you used to. That doesn’t mean your relationship is broken. It just means you’re both human.

To make things easier, I’ve pulled together some of the best marriage counsellors in Toronto who can help you work through the hard stuff and come out stronger.
How much does a session with a marriage counsellor cost in Toronto?
In Toronto, most marriage counsellors will charge you around $220 for a standard 50-minute session. Take note that this price is only the average, and yours may vary depending on the counsellor’s experience, credentials, and the type of session.

Unresolved issues and old memories can quietly weigh down a relationship. That’s why I like that New Moon Psychotherapy focuses on trauma-informed care. They can help people move forward by gently unpacking what’s been holding them back.
What also stood out to me is how openly they handle sensitive topics like sex. Their team supports couples through challenges like mismatched desire and intimacy struggles without judgment or discomfort.
Their counsellors are also trained to work with LGBTQ couples and people in polyamorous relationships, which makes the space feel genuinely safe and affirming.
Thankfully, you don’t need to commit long-term if you’re unsure. They offer Same Day, Single Session therapy, which is good when you need support right away without signing up for a full series.
However, it’s disappointing that they don’t handle insurance claims directly, so you’ll need to manage the paperwork on your own.
New Moon is an invaluable service
“New Moon Psychotherapy was the first psychotherapy that I have utilized. The app, reminders and systems in place were seamless. Most importantly, I connected instantly with Chris Matsoukas who has made a huge positive impact in my life. The immense training and experience that Chris brought to the table was instantly evident. He provided ample room to listen while always making sure to ask insightful questions or provide meaningful assignments. All I can say is Chris is wise beyond his years and New Moon is an invaluable service.”

Their service changed my life
“My therapist with New Moon was extraordinary. They were exactly what I was looking for and was so lucky to have been paired with someone who had a focus on the traumas that I needed to work through. Highly recommend, they are great and their service changed my life. They are covered by my benefits thankfully, but as with most services like this the cost can be tough for some people to manage; but if you have coverage I’d suggest this place as it was fantastic!”

What stood out to me most is their Couples Communication Coaching. This three-month program gives you and your partner the tools to break out of conflict loops, express needs more clearly, and tackle issues before they grow into something bigger.
They also offer therapy in Farsi, which is a rare and important option for Iranian-Canadian clients who want support that respects their cultural background and language comfort.

Relationships inevitably hit a rough spot as time passes. You or your partner may change as the two of you pursue your individual goals.
Family, career, and other obligations could make you drift apart as you spend more time on these responsibilities instead of each other.
That’s when you may feel that your partner is a source of stress, or vice versa. Fortunately, Feel Your Way Therapy can help you “feel your way” back to love.
We’ve spoken with their previous clients, who noted that they helped them through communication breakdown, increased tension and hostility, emotional distance, lack of resolution, and decreased intimacy.
Studies also suggest that up to 70% of couples see notable improvement after engaging in therapy aimed at enhancing communication and emotional connection.
The clinic is open seven days a week, but it’s best to contact them as soon as possible. High demand can make it difficult to book consultations, especially during peak hours.

We recently began working with Couples & Family Therapy Collective, and the experience has been both grounding and transformative. From the very first session, the therapists created a space that felt safe, nonjudgmental, and genuinely compassionate. They took the time to understand our relationship dynamic—listening carefully to both of us, asking thoughtful questions, and helping us unpack the layers beneath our communication patterns without ever taking sides.
What stood out most was their balance of empathy and practical guidance. Every session felt purposeful, with clear tools and reflections we could take home and apply right away. Rather than focusing only on what wasn’t working, they highlighted our strengths and reminded us why we came together in the first place. That approach helped us rebuild trust and connection in a way that felt hopeful and realistic.
The therapists’ professionalism and warmth made it easy to open up, even about difficult topics. They were intuitive but also grounded in evidence-based methods, blending insight with tangible strategies that truly made a difference. Working with Couples & Family Therapy Collective has helped us communicate more clearly, listen more deeply, and understand each other with renewed compassion. It’s more than counselling—it’s a partnership in healing and growth. We’re incredibly grateful for their guidance and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to any couple or family seeking real, lasting change.

Have you and your partner ever questioned whether it’s time to stay or walk away? If so, Relationship Counselling Toronto might be worth a look. Led by Shirley Hung-Truchot, a counsellor with ten years of experience, this clinic focuses on emotionally focused therapy to address relationship issues.
They don’t just cover the usual marriage issues. Their team also handles sex therapy and affair recovery, which can be especially helpful when trust has taken a serious hit.
But what really stood out to me was their discernment counselling. It’s designed for couples who are unsure about continuing and gives space for honest reflection without pressure. They also offer a free 15-minute consultation, which is good for testing the waters.
Unfortunately, this clinic tends to get fully booked quickly. I’ve also heard about last-minute reschedules, which can be frustrating if you’re hoping for consistency.
“The whole package” when it comes to relationship counselling
“Shirley Hung-Truchot is “the whole package” when it comes to relationship counselling: she is a seasoned expert in marital therapy, sex therapy and discernment counselling – covering all the bases. I feel confident when I refer clients to Shirley that they will benefit from her competence and her compassion in equal measure.”

9. Pando Counselling & Psychotherapy

Address: 85 E Liberty St
Phone number: +1 647-846-1012
Business hours: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM (MON-FRI)
Pando Counselling & Psychotherapy is a good option for those working with a tighter budget. They were founded in 2013 by Agustina de Benedetti, a therapist with nearly twenty years of experience.
Their team works with different methods, like attachment-based therapy and compassion-focused therapy, to help couples work through tough spots.
One of the biggest draws is their Affordable Therapy Program, where therapists-in-training provide sessions at a reduced rate under supervision. They also offer sliding scale pricing for clients facing significant financial stress.
On top of that, you can book a free consultation to see if it feels like they’re the right fit before making any kind of commitment.
But one thing I don’t like is their limited payment options. At the moment, they only accept cheques and e-transfers, which might not work for everyone.

Couples Counselling Toronto is a place I’d genuinely recommend if you and your partner want to work on things in a more structured way. The founder, Damian May, brings three decades of experience and created his own approach called the May Method.
It focuses on strengthening emotional intelligence and building clear communication skills to help couples tackle their issues head-on. All their therapists are trained in this method, so you get consistency throughout.
What’s also good is they offer premarital counselling, which digs into important stuff like finances and expectations. It’s the kind of stuff that really matters before tying the knot.
However, one thing I’m not a fan of is the $100 fee for the first assessment. But with regular sessions at $190, they’re still one of the more affordable options around for couples planning to attend multiple sessions.
Has been a crucial factor in overall improvement in my personal and marital life
“Been seeing Damian for over an year and half, and he has been a crucial factor in overall improvement in my personal and marital life. I am really grateful for his support throughout my challenging times.”
