The Best Podiatrists in Toronto Athletes Love to Work With

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

After one of my jogging sessions last week, I couldn’t help but wince when my left foot ached. At first, I thought an afternoon rest and some painkillers might do the trick, but they were of no use.

That’s when I decided to seek the help of a professional to find the underlying cause. It’s a good thing Toronto has no shortage of podiatrists. I was able to find someone to help me relieve the pain in no time.

Now that my foot is well again, I’ve decided to do a bit more research and compile the best podiatrists in Toronto who can help others like me who suffer from foot-related issues.

How much does it cost to see a podiatrist in Toronto?

Seeing a podiatrist in Toronto will typically cost you $180. However, this fee can vary depending on the clinic and treatment that you choose.

How We Chose

Treatment options – We chose podiatrists who can provide a wide range of treatments for sprains, neuromas, warts, and more.
Experience and credentials – We also picked certified podiatrists who have more than three years of experience in the field.
Professionalism – We evaluated whether these podiatrists treat patients kindly and are always on time for their appointments. We also checked whether they respond quickly to calls and emails.
Accessibility – We assessed whether their clinics are near major roads and public transit stations. We also looked at whether they’re available on most days of the week.
Price fairness – We also considered whether their prices are fair based on their treatment options, specialisations, track record, and equipment used.

If you want to vastly improve your cardiovascular fitness, then come visit the InStride Podiatry Foot and Orthotic Clinic. This clinic is currently led by Laura Desjardins, a seasoned podiatrist who has treated several Olympic track and field athletes representing our country.

For me, the best thing about them is their impressive range of treatments offered, which includes diabetic foot care, custom orthotics, and soft tissue surgeries. And as mentioned earlier, they’re great for improving cardiovascular fitness as they have their own running clinic.

Here, their podiatry team will create personalised physiotherapy programs to help you achieve your running goals.

Sadly, InStride’s podiatry team is a bit small, as it only features two podiatrists alongside Laura. This leads to them becoming fully booked quickly on most days of the week.

Pros

  • Highly experienced podiatry team
  • Wide range of treatments
  • Has a running clinic

Cons

  • Small team
  • Tends to get fully booked quickly

Thanks to her expertise my toe is feeling better

“I recently visited InStride clinic because I had a persistent pain in my big toe and booked an appointment with Dr Laura. From the moment I walked into the office, the staff was warm and welcoming. Dr Laura took the time to listen to my concerns and thoroughly explained the diagnosis and treatment option.

The treatment I received was top notch.

Thanks to her expertise my toe is feeling better. I highly recommend Dr. Laura to anyone in need of a skilled and compassionate podiatrist.”

Academy Foot and Orthotic Clinic is a prominent podiatry clinic located in North Riverdale. Today, most of their podiatry treatments are carried out by Shannon Hardy, daughter of the clinic’s founder and a prominent member of reputable organisations like the College of Podiatrists of Manitoba.

As expected, they can offer a wide range of treatments for ailments like bunions, flat feet, and plantar fasciitis. However, what’s really interesting is their use of highly advanced equipment to carry out their services.

For instance, they have the CompuMed System, which can deliver pain-free injections. They also use lasers to perform comprehensive scanning for orthotic patients and treat fungal toenails.

Overall, they’re almost the perfect choice, except for the fact that their prices are a bit high. Look for other options first if you’re on a tight budget.

Pros

  • Highly experienced podiatry team
  • Uses high-tech equipment
  • Can create custom orthotics
  • Offers fungal toenail treatments

Cons

  • Above-average prices
  • Inconsistent operating hours

Have provided excellent and proactive care

“This clinic is amazing. My husband has been treated by both Nathee and Sibella; both have provided excellent and proactive care. In addition, the staff is extremely accommodating. A real find!”

I had a very informative and positive experience

“I had a very informative and positive experience. My podiatrist was knowledgeable and willing to listen to my concerns and issues that led my condition to reach this point, etc. They offered me tea, coffee, water, donuts when I got there, and sent me reminders at the right time. Staff is on top of technology to make the process efficient but willing to help if you’re not comfortable with technology. And everyone smiles a lot. There’s parking for 4 cars which is another great convenience.”

Downtown Foot Clinic is a podiatry clinic that I highly recommend due to its highly accessible location. A few metres away from Queen and Osgoode subway stations, this clinic is great for those who prefer travelling around the city via public transport.

Currently, they’re led by Piyush Jadav, who specialises in fixing walking patterns and treating common foot problems like heel pain and ankle sprains. Interestingly, they use laser therapy to speed up foot recovery.

Furthermore, it’s kinda cool to learn that they offer medical pedicures where you can have your feet pedicured using sterilised equipment. They can also create custom orthotics and orthopaedic shoes should you need them.

However, I’m a bit disappointed to hear that some clients had to wait more than 10 minutes beyond their appointment time before they were assisted.

Pros

  • Highly accessible location
  • Uses laser therapy
  • Offers medical pedicures
  • Can create custom orthotics and orthopaedic shoes

Cons

  • Unpunctual staff
  • Unavailable on weekends

Their medical grade pedicures are wonderful!

“I have been going to this clinic for a little over 6 months now and it is nothing short of wonderful. Booking and scheduling is very easy and the front desk is always pleasant and efficient. Their medical grade pedicures are wonderful! Izabela is extremely kind, and very efficient at her job. I always leave happy!”

The service has been phenomenal

“I cannot be more pleased with my experience with Downtown Foot Clinic. The service has been phenomenal. I have never had to wait long to be seen and Dr. Phil is very knowledgeable and takes his time to discuss any questions or concerns each visit. I would also highly recommend a pedicure with Bianca. Bianca is a fantastic pedicurist and makes great conversation.”

Are you tired of having ingrown toenails? Then come check out Bloor West Foot Clinic, a podiatry clinic that’s only a few blocks away from Jane subway station. Currently led by Tasleem Ismail, they offer a comprehensive range of services, including custom orthotics, foot mobilisation, ingrown toenail surgery, and more.

What’s exciting about them is that they offer a permanent way to fix your ingrown toenails: nail bracing. This painless procedure uses medical-grade steel wire to fix and correct your nail shape.

They also offer prosthetic nails to assist those who are suffering from distorted toenails brought on by trauma or fungus growth.

Thankfully, it’s very easy to book an appointment with them, as they don’t require a referral from a doctor.

However, I should inform you that they don’t do direct billing, which can be a hassle for insurance holders.

Pros

  • Wide range of treatments
  • Offers nail bracing
  • Can create prosthetic nails
  • Doesn’t require a doctor’s referral

Cons

  • Inconsistent operating hours
  • Can’t do direct billing

It was quick and easy to book

“Came here for a toenail injury. It was quick and easy to book, the receptionist was pleasant and helpful, and the prices and services were clearly communicated prior to the appointment. The Chiropodist, Andre Liban, was very friendly, knowledgeable and effective. Within the 40 minutes consultation he provided his professional recommendations, treated the injury and gave me all the info I needed to manage recovery whilst continuing to run. I would definitely recommend this place.”

With over 25 years of history, Toronto Foot Care is one of the oldest podiatry clinics you can find in the city. Its current owner, Jeffrey Kwan, is a registered podiatrist and can speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

Currently, they offer treatments for ailments like athlete’s foot, calluses, and warts. They can also do shockwave therapy, which uses high-tech equipment like the Swiss DolorClast Smart20 to cure tendonitis and plantar fasciitis.

Beyond their services, it’s also a treat to discover that they can do next-day and emergency appointments. They’re also partnered with many insurance companies and can offer direct billing in most cases.

However, please take note that their location is in North York, which is a bit far from the city centre. If you’re not a resident of Toronto’s northeast suburbs, it might be wise to look for closer options.
