Not to reveal myself as delusional, but I’ve been daydreaming of becoming the next Rafael Nadal. Obviously, it’s too late to become a tennis great now, but it’s not too late to get into the sport.
Thankfully, there are tennis clubs in Toronto that welcome an adult like me. With the help of great coaches, I’ve become a decent player in a span of a few months!
Whether you’re a complete newbie or a regular player who wants to perfect their game, I found the best tennis clubs for you to build your racket skills.
How much does a tennis coach cost in Toronto?
The cost of hiring a tennis coach usually falls within C$15 and C$35 per session. That said, if you’re looking for more advanced classes, you might see higher rates like C$60 per session or even up to C$150 per session.
How We Chose the Best Tennis Coaches in Toronto
BreakPoint Tennis Club

Address: 510 King St E #809
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—7 am to 10 pm
Contact Number: +16478943977
The first thing I like about BreakPoint Tennis Club is its convenient location. It’s right by downtown Toronto, so it’s easy to get to.
This club also has various classes. There are the junior classes, which are divided by age (5 to 8 years old, 9 to 11, and 12 to 16). And there are also adult classes, which have even more categories.
I started here with their rookie classes, but now I’ve progressed past the advanced beginner level. I’m currently at low intermediate, so it will take a while before I hit their advanced classes.
Most classes here are with a group, but they offer private lessons as well—perfect for shy students or those who prefer a one-on-one approach.
The coaches here are amazing as well. They’re organized and responsive, so I can feel the progress every session. It’s also easy to book and reschedule classes with them, which is impressive considering the high demand.
Prices here are a bit expensive, though. Adult classes start at C$40 or C$60 per session, while private lessons are around C$140. At least you can get a discount if you’re booking with a group.

“Rox is very responsive and was able to help me reschedule my classes very quickly. I like how u can reschedule any class with 2-week notice…my past experience was just being able to reschedule the 1st class of a fixed series of classes. Very flexible rescheduling policy. Thanks!.”

MC Academy of Tennis

Address: 410 Martin Grove Rd #400, Etobicoke
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday—7 am to 7 pm
Contact Number: +14164743102
If you’re in Etobicoke, you might want to consider MC Academy of Tennis. This tennis club comes highly recommended because it offers a ton of classes and programs for both young people and adults at all difficulty levels.
I love how the classes have a clear structure, so you know what to expect. Beginner classes focus on the basics, while intermediate classes are for consistency and shot variety. For the advanced level, you’ll be learning how to be aggressive with your shots.
The coaches are pretty great, too, especially for kids. They know how to keep them engaged with the lessons. They’re just as friendly and understanding with the adults, which I greatly appreciate.
The prices here aren’t too expensive. If you’re with a group, the rate is only C$35 or even C$30 per hour. Of course, the private lessons are a bit pricey, at C$80 per hour, but that makes sense to me.
This club also offers membership programs, but only for kids. I wish they also offered some for adults. I definitely like the idea of competing with other adult tennis players or just playing with them whenever possible.

East York Tennis Club

Address: 115 Roosevelt Rd
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—7 am to 11 pm
Contact Number: +14164294963
East York Tennis Club is open every day, which is the first thing I like about this club. I’m a busy bee, and it’s hard to find a club with a schedule that fits mine. Fortunately, I don’t have to worry about that here.
This club offers great programs for both children and adults. There are also different class types, so every session feels different. In one session, you’ll be practicing a stroke for the whole hour, then in the next, you’ll have to keep up with the tennis ball machine!
Young tennis enthusiasts even have more options because this club offers summer camps for them. These camps feature three-hour sessions a day, so your child will truly become an amateur by the end of the summer.
The prices here are also great; the ballpark is usually between C$21 and C$29 per hour. Members get the cheaper rate, but even for non-members, I think this is pretty affordable.
The one downside to this club is that its private and semi-private lessons are only for members. If you want to book a class here, you’ll have to do it with a group.

Great courts
“Fantastic place, community-run, with friendly and easy-going members! If you play tennis, you should join. Great courts, and monthly clinics. Public hours available in the evenings on weekends.”

Fantastic tennis club
“Fantastic tennis club with a great group of individuals who participate and volunteer to manage this club. This has been especially true during COVID with all precautions and measures taken to ensure the safety of all members and the public using the courts. Thanks for all your hard work in making this a true community hub in East York.”

Toronto Tennis City

Address: 185 Balliol St
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—6:30 am to 10:30 pm
Contact Number: +16473816464
Toronto Tennis City is another tennis club in a convenient location. It’s right in the heart of Midtown, so it’s pretty accessible via public transportation.
The classes here aren’t categorized based on difficulty level, which I think is fascinating. Instead, they’re based on class type. For example, you can focus on strokes or footwork, or challenge yourself in live ball sessions.
Anyone can book a class here, but if you want, you can become a member to enjoy some more perks, such as exclusive events like meet-and-greet nights and the highly competitive Singles Ladder.
Of course, there are also junior programs here, and I love that they cater to youths of all ages. Seriously, there’s even a class dedicated to toddlers (aged 3 to 5)! This club really says, “You gotta start them young.”
That said, the junior programs aren’t operated by the club; instead, they’re run through the ACE Tennis Academy. This academy is reputable, but it does mean that the classes depend on them. If there’s any class-related issue, the club can’t do much about it.

Amazing coaches
“I LOVE this club! It’s one of the best tennis clubs in the city. The tennis coaches are top of the line. Mike and Simon are amazing and the others are too. The members are also very nice and everyone is polite and friendly and inclusive. I’ve made wonderful friends here and also improved my skills considerably.”

Friendly staff
“Toronto I have taken tennis lessons here and its a fairly nice court. The only downside is that the court is made of clay so its kinda dusty. The clay gets everywhere including the change rooms but overall, the space is kept fairly clean and its nice and cool (not to hot and not to cold). The staff all seem friendly and welcoming as well. Apart from these things, I cannot comment on the other features since I only come here once a week for lessons. Tennis City.”

Martin Grove Tennis Club

We signed up for tennis coaching at Martingrove Tennis Club — and overall, we came away with a sense that it was a genuinely good place to learn and grow in the sport.
Right from our first session, their coach took time to ask about our experience, goals, and what we hoped to get out of lessons; we appreciated that he didn’t assume we all learn the same way. During drills, he explained technique carefully — footwork, grip, swing — paying close attention when we made mistakes, and often giving us simple cues and reminders rather than long, technical lectures. That calm, patient approach helped us focus on building correct habits without feeling rushed or discouraged.
What helped us improve most was the consistent feedback and gradual progression. We started with basic drills and simple rallies, then slowly moved toward volleys, serves, and point play as we gained confidence. Each time we stumbled, the coach would stop and show us alternate ways to approach the shot — sometimes it was a small change in stance, sometimes just a shift in timing — and after a few tries, the difference became noticeable.
Beyond technique, the atmosphere at the club felt inclusive. Other students ranged from complete beginners to more experienced players, and we felt comfortable practicing among them. The coach encouraged teamwork and friendly matches, which made lessons more enjoyable and less formal than competitive drills.
If we have one reservation, it’s that during peak hours the schedule felt a bit crowded, so sometimes we had to wait for a spot or share court time. But in the scheme of things, that small inconvenience didn’t overshadow how supportive and effective the coaching has been.
Overall, our experience with Martingrove Tennis Club felt thoughtful, encouraging, and growth-oriented. If you’re looking to learn tennis with patience and real attention to your development, we’d recommend giving them a try.
Leaside Tennis Club

Address: 110 Rumsey Rd, Trace Manes Park, East York
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—7 am to 11 pm
- Saturday—7 am to 7 pm
- Sunday—7 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +14164679350
Leaside Tennis Club is well-known for its great facilities. I mean, this place literally has six tennis courts! Most of the ones I visit only have one.
I do like that private lessons are the focus here. This allows the instructor to focus on one player. As such, the student can let the instructor know their personal goals, and the instructor can make a custom lesson plan based on them.
Even if you don’t have a class here, you can still book the court with a friend or two and practice your techniques. It’s easy to book the court as well, which is why I sometimes come here to train with a few of my tennis friends.
I have to say that this club does have some strict rules, which is a bummer. For example, if you miss a class, you won’t be able to get a makeup class (unless it’s because of the weather).
Also, members can book the club-run tennis clinics, and children can’t join a group lesson unless they’re a member.

Easy to book
“Such a great place to play tennis! I was on the waitlist for several season, but after I became a member this year, have really enjoyed the tennis club! It is a great facility, really well organized, courts are amazing, very easy to book times, meet and play with other members for round robin and house-league. Lessons were also great, with very friendly and knowledgeable instructions. Definitely looking forward to the next season. It’s too bad that it isn’t open all year long.”
