The best singing/voice lessons in Toronto can get you performance-ready!

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Few are born ready to belt a chorus without sounding like a banshee. Even hitmakers such as Rihanna and Taylor Swift trained under professional guidance before filling arenas, you know.

And there’s a reason for that. A quality coach can fine-tune your voice, breath support, technique, range, and confidence, all while improving projection and articulation.

We found plenty here in Toronto, so you don’t have to spend days tracking one down. Such chart-topping coaches are listed below!
If you also want to play an instrument while singing (talk about double threat!), check out these local piano lessons, too.

How much do singing lessons cost in Toronto?

In Toronto, most singing lessons cost $40–$80 per hour or $25–$50 for 30 minutes. Instructors with more experience or advanced degrees often come at a higher price.

How We Chose

Experience: Our team looked into LinkedIn profiles, CVs, company histories, and registries to ensure only singing coaches or schools with five-plus years of teaching experience made the list. Scoring higher were names with decades in their name.
Credentials: Using the exact sources, we managed to pick candidates holding relevant certificates, degrees (including pedagogy-related ones), memberships, and awards.
Personality: Character was primarily rated using personal experience, trial classes, forums, interviews, and feedback. Unsurprisingly, patient, encouraging, collaborative, passionate, and analytical coaches ranked higher.
Teaching Skills: The same method was employed to identify whether a coach adjusts their approach and style to a student’s age, skill level, and/or goals.
Pricing: Finally, we made sure the hourly/package rates are fair for the total value provided. Bonus points were handed to options that offer discounts or special deals.

Showoffs Studio For Performers

Address: 8 Wellesley St E #908

Contact Details: +1 647-979-0464

Operating Hours: Daily – 9 am to 9 pm

Consistent and refined is the best way to sum up Showoffs Studio For Performers.

For one, the decorated Art Nefsky runs the studio, and his methodology has been polished for nearly four decades.

This means that students learn through a single instructor with a continuous and proven method rather than bouncing between conflicting teachers and approaches.

Instruction is also adjusted depending on the student, since Art, who’s been coaching since 1987, tracks nuances and plans effective lessons.

His students are proof of his effectiveness. One shared that they can now belt out confidently despite starting tone-deaf and shy!

That brings us to another positive: Art has the patience, knowledge, and experience (plus lightheartedness!) for beating stage fright.

However, if you want lessons with multiple instructors for variety, this isn’t the best fit, as the studio only has one coach. Slots can also get tight due to high demand.

But we think, even with the possible limited availability, it’s still worth signing up to get the guidance of a real industry pro.

Pros

  • Consistent and established methodology
  • Founder and vocal coach with 39 years of experience
  • Offers free vocal assessments
  • Lessons start from age four
  • Great at building confidence (even has a book on it!)

Cons

  • Single instructor and high demand = limited slots

Very Happy with My Decision

I was looking for a vocal teacher to strengthen my fundamentals, and found Art who specialized in helping shy singers find their voice. Art was amazing from day 1, making me feel comfortable and at ease despite the challenging exercises. By his sharp emotional intelligence, creative methods, targeted exercises and expertise in bringing out the best of an individual’s voice, I found a new confidence and enjoyment of my voice. Thanks to Art’s classes, I grew my vocal power, smoothed out my passaggio, and expanded my range. I’m very happy with my decision to train with Art and hope to learn more from him in the future.

Express Voice Studio

Address: 386 Yonge St, Unit 505

Contact Details: +1 438-722-9234

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Website

Express Voice Studio has a setup for nearly every singer. They have classes for total rookies, groups, adults, teens, and kiddos.

By classes, we mean sessions that focus on “performance readiness.” Their students hone techniques like delivery and presence in realistic scenarios.

One handy part is that you can learn it all without stressing over Downtown Toronto’s heavy traffic. Online sessions are offered, and they can be adjusted to match your calendar.

Genre is no problem either. The studio has loads of instructors on board, each specializing in a distinct style, such as pop, rock, hip-hop, and RNB.

Certain teachers, however, are tricky to get hold of, particularly those with more teaching, performing, and recording experience.

We think Express could also do with a few nifty extras. Think group discounts or free vocal assessments.

But honestly, their pricing model isn’t bad. You can go pay-per-lesson or choose a package.

Pros

  • Open since 2018
  • Emphasizes performance readiness
  • Broad format variety
  • Also has acting classes (like these studios)
  • No subscription model

Cons

  • Some teachers can be tough to book
  • Lack of special deals and discounts

I enjoy all my lessons

Was searching for a teacher for singing lessons and Jordanne helped me find Kaden, who has been an awesome teacher that really takes the time to get to know my goals and helps me work towards them.

I enjoy all my lessons with him, especially working on improving technique. I’ve also attended their virtual classes, which are great if you want to experience another teacher or learn something in a new genre.

4 stars because I’m hoping they can host some Toronto events soon as I’d love to attend those!

Toronto Arts Academy

Address: 386 Eglinton Ave W

Contact Details: +1 647-748-2787

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Thu – 10 am to 9 pm
  • Fri – 12:30 pm to 8 pm
  • Sat to Sun – 9:30 am to 5 pm

Website

If accolades are your go-to metrics, Toronto Arts Academy is worth a gander. This music school has collected over 30 industry awards since opening in 2013.

They have programs for most levels, genres, and personalities. For instance, aspiring pop or rockstars as young as three-plus have the Singer’s Edge Program, while the jazzy bunch get their own dedicated track.

Every one of their 31-strong teaching staff also holds a music degree. You can meet them online or in-person.

Just a shame there have been some hiccups before, like missed cancellation notices.

Slots are on a first-come, first-served basis as well, so it pays to visit their site for real-time availability updates.

Another perk of checking in is scoring limited-time deals. Last March, the Academy offered a $46 price cut for lessons while also waiving the $35 registration fee.

Pros

  • Multi-awarded school
  • Dedicated tracks for several genres
  • Occasional discounts and deals
  • Open since 2013
  • Also has piano lessons

Cons

  • Some poorly communicated cancellations
  • First-come, first-served basis

Encouraging Teaching Styles

If you are looking for a music school with the best teachers, a comfortable learning environment, and encouraging teaching styles this is the place! Before I started here I was concerned about only having 30 minute lessons but the teaching they can pack in such a short time is phenomenal. The 30 minute lessons are also amazing cause they fit well into busy schedules. Most music schools I’ve attended have had long and rather boring performances and some that you even had to pay for! Well that isn’t the case here. You can choose a time slot when it best fits your schedule to perform and you don’t have to buy tickets. My vocal ability has improved greatly since first attending. As for the teachers, they really care about the students and want to see them improve. All the teachers are highly qualified and amazing at what they do. I’ve been to many music schools in Toronto and this is by far the best one!

Had an Amazing Experience

I’ve been going here for singing lessons for about a year with my vocal coach, Alyssa, and I’ve had an amazing experience. I’ve loved singing my whole life and taking lessons here has improved my voice so much and it’s all thanks to Alyssa!! Even though it’s just 30 minutes out of my week, she is always prepared and picks the perfect warm ups and songs for my voice! I suggest Toronto Arts Academy for your musical lessons 100%

Canada Music Academy

Address: 402A, 800 Bathurst St

Contact Details: +1 416-207-0884

Operating Hours: Daily – 9 am to 9 pm

Website

Canada Music Academy only hires certified vocal coaches, making this 1995-founded school an ideal choice for students preparing for auditions or RCM exams.

That’s not to say they’re only for budding stars. Beginners from five upwards and even seniors can sign up for flexible packages, which range from 8 to 32 lessons.

Cost-wise, it’s quite Toronto-friendly, with most teachers charging $50 per hour. Some dip below or go above that price point.

Two trial lessons (used for matching purposes) are part of the deal. While they’re not free, students who decide against continuing get refunded.

The real snag is potentially running out of slots, given the school’s prestige and fame.

It’s also worth noting that most of their classes are designed for one-on-one coaching instead of group sessions.

On the upside, you can take lessons online, in the studio, or from home.

Pros

  • Open since 1995
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Flexible packages and lesson formats
  • Provides trial lessons
  • Gives access to recording studios

Cons

  • Limited options for group lessons
  • High demand

No Pressure

Loving my lessons! Great teacher and no pressure. Learning so much at a pace I’m comfortable with. Would highly recommend to others.

A Wide Range of Qualified Musical Educators

This is the best on-line Music School I have so far encountered! With Bios and Photos of a wide range of qualified Musical Educators, I have had a great range of very experienced and highly trained musicians to choose from!

I’ve been happy with Canada Music Academy and I am planning to continue working with this School for a very long time! Highly recommended!

Toronto Singing Academy

Address: Second, 370 Steeles Ave W, Unit 212

Contact Details: +1 416-833-3504

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Thu – 11 am to 9 pm
  • Sun – 11 am to 6 pm

Website

Toronto Singing Academy covers plenty of genres. For more than 20 years, their certified teachers have coached 1,800-plus students to perform in a range of styles, such as pop, gospel, musical theatre, country, and rock.

What’s neat is that there’s freedom from a preset vocal course. Every singer takes on a customized path that’s often determined via a four-class trial program.

The advanced classes work the same way, though lessons in performance etiquette and microphone techniques are typically non-negotiables.

Sadly, they don’t do group lessons yet. Toronto Singing Academy is all about one-on-one sessions.

Booking Friday or Saturday appointments isn’t an option either. Considering the places above operate every day, that’s a clear weak point.

Not all entries host a singing camp for children of all levels, though. This one does, and it’s a four-week event with lessons in fundamentals and actual performances.

Pros

  • Operating for over 20 years
  • Has a four-class trial program
  • Offers seasonal discounts
  • Stages a singing camp for kids
  • Has facilities and packages for demo recording

Cons

  • Closed on Fridays and Saturdays
  • No group lessons

So Grateful That I Found Her

I had an amazing first vocal coaching session with Gali this evening. I have never received 1:1 vocal coaching before, always learnt music in group classes. For the first time ever, I felt someone is really caring about my voice, guiding me in the exact areas of weakness. This doesn’t happen in group classes. I am really amazed how Gali customized the coaching to my voice type, based on the super-detailed and technical vocal assessment that she did in our previous session. I’m so grateful that I found her online and signed up for this course with her. I highly recommend anyone who’s passionate about singing and wanting to improve your vocals, to reach out to Gali!!
