My Food Crawl Across the Best Restaurants in Mississauga

best-restaurants-mississauga-banner

Mississauga is far from where I live in the GTA, so I don’t visit this city often. But when I do, I like going on a food crawl with my friends because the food scene here is amazing!

This city has cozy pubs that would rival Toronto’s own, offering hearty and flavourful meals; fancy restaurants that are perfect for date nights; and bars with grilled meats that will definitely clog my arteries (no complaints, though)!

So far, these are my favourite restaurants in Mississauga. I’m looking forward to making even more food crawls so that I can add more spots to my list of favourites.

The Open Cork Restaurant and Lounge

From: the_open_cork

Address: 2101 Dundas St E
Operating Hours

  • Sunday to Thursday—11 am to 1 am
  • Friday and Saturday—11 am to 2 am

Contact Number: +19056249777
Website

The Open Cork Restaurant and Lounge is one of the most popular restaurants in the city, so, of course, we had to try it. Fortunately, it lives up to the hype.

I recommend ordering the veal ossobuco. The meat is slow-roasted, so it becomes so tender that it basically falls apart with one stroke of my fork. It tastes savoury with a tangy acidity from the tomato broth it’s cooked in, and it’s served with saffron risotto that cuts through all the rich flavours.

Pro Tip: If the weather is clear, you might want to take a seat on the patio. That way, you can enjoy the fresh breeze while you’re eating.

Scaddabush Italian Kitchen and Bar

From: scaddabush

Address: 209 Rathburn Rd W
Operating Hours

  • Sunday to Thursday—11:30 am to 11 pm
  • Friday and Saturday—11:30 am to 12 am

Contact Number: +19052811721
Website

I’m already a big fan of Scaddabush, so when I heard that they have a location in Mississauga, I was thrilled. I knew I had to check it out ASAP, and true enough, I love the experience here as well.

Since this is an Italian restaurant, you have to try their pasta dishes. My current favourite is the pesto pollo penne. I love how creamy and nutty the sauce tastes, and there are also sun-dried tomatoes thrown in the mix, adding some acidity to every bite.

The chicken pieces are well-marinated as well, so they taste savoury, with a hint of zestiness.

Pro Tip: Every Wednesday, their wine bottles are discounted!

Capra’s Kitchen

From: capraskitchen

Address: 1834 Lakeshore Rd W
Operating Hours

  • Tuesday and Wednesday—5 pm to 10 pm
  • Thursday and Friday—11:30 am to 10 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday—11 am to 10 pm

Contact Number: +19059161834
Website

I love how Capra’s Kitchen combines industrial and chic. The result is an Instagrammable restaurant with a bright and airy vibe, and that’s why I love coming here.

Of course, the food also plays a role in why I love this restaurant. The linguine gamberi e zucchine has won me over. The sauce is pretty simple—tangy and garlicky—and the zucchini adds a refreshing taste. The dish also comes with shrimp, so there’s a bit of sweetness to every forkful as well.

Pro Tips:

  • Every Wednesday, their wine bottles are half-priced.
  • If you want to host an event here, fill out this form.

Dosa Boyz

From: dosaboyz_mississauga

Address: 551 Curran Place
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 1 am
Contact Number: +19055669767
Website

Craving Indian food? Then, you need to stop by Dosa Boyz.

This Indian restaurant serves all the classic dishes. Of course, I can’t say no to the butter chicken; it’s incredibly decadent, with the buttery and tangy sauce and tender chicken pieces. This dish is served with rice, making it a filling meal.

If you just want a quick meal, you might like their dosa (a thin, savoury crepe). The chilli cheese one is my favourite; salty cheese and spice are an elite flavour combo.

Pro Tip: You can create a customized dosa if you want.

Gabby’s

From: gabbysrestaurant

Address: 4096 Confederation Pkwy
Operating Hours

  • Monday to Friday—11 am to 2 am
  • Saturday and Sunday—9 am to 2 am

Contact Number: +19052328955
Website

Gabby’s is the restaurant that fried chicken lovers like me will love. After all, this spot specializes in chicken tenders, and let me tell you, they taste just as good as they look!

I can’t stop thinking about their chicken parmesan here. The chicken is perfectly flat and crispy, and it’s topped with a tangy tomato sauce and salty melted mozzarella. This dish is also served with penne alfredo (so creamy and peppery) and garlic cheese fingers, so you’ll feel full in no time.

Pro Tip: If you’re planning an event here, fill out this form.

Karahi Point

From: karahipoint

Address: 6905 Millcreek Dr, Unit 7, Millcreek Place
Operating Hours

  • Sunday to Thursday—12 pm to 2 am
  • Friday and Saturday—12 pm to 4 am

Contact Number: +19055428778
Website

Karahi Point is a pretty well-known chain of halal restaurants in Canada. It currently has 13 locations all over the country, and I was happy to learn that there’s one in Mississauga.

The chicken karahi is a must-order here. The chicken pieces are cooked with a ginger garlic paste, diced tomatoes, and a secret spice blend over high heat. As a result, the flavour profile is complex; savoury and smoky are the first to hit you, followed by tangy and spicy.

Pro Tip: Planning an event? You can book their catering services

Rick’s Good Eats

From: ricksgoodeats

Address: 6660 Kennedy Rd #1
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 11 pm
Contact Number: +19056966966
Website

Rick’s Good Eats is aptly named because yes, they do deliver some good—nay, great—eats. Sometimes, I have to be careful here because I might end up eating so much that my doctor would be aghast if he knew.

I always get one of their burgers here. My current favourite is the Punjabi Cheeseburger, which is jam-packed with a juicy beef patty, chopped tomato, shredded lettuce, and sauteed onions. It’s sweet and savoury, and the achari mayo packs a bit of heat as well.

Pro Tips:

Bristol Bar and Grill

From: bristolmississauga

Address: 512 Bristol Rd W #15
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 2 am
Contact Number: +19058902500
Website

Looking for a spot to unwind with friends and enjoy some fantastic comfort food? Then, I know just the place for you: Bristol Bar and Grill.

I love getting the Surf and Turf here. The striploin steak is juicy and savoury, with subtle notes of smokiness, while the shrimp pieces are plump and garlicky. These ingredients aren’t good for my heart, but at least the dish comes with vegetables, so that cancels out all the carbs (…right?).

Pro Tip: If you want to reserve a spot, you have to call the number above. They don’t have an online booking portal.

La Castile

From: lacastile

Address: 2179 Dundas St E
Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday—11:30 am to 10 am
  • Friday—11:30 am to 11 pm
  • Saturday—4 pm to 11 pm

Contact Number: +19056251137
Website

La Castile is a paradise for steak and seafood lovers. Plus, it has that dark and moody vibe that makes it perfect for romantic dates.

The peppercorn steak is my go-to order here. It’s pretty big, at 12 oz, so technically, I can share it with someone else, but I prefer to eat it on my own (don’t judge me!). The steak is rich and savoury, with a peppery kick, and the sauce adds a few notes of bittersweet flavours.

Pro Tip: Every Friday and Saturday night, you can enjoy some form of live entertainment while dining here.

Potato Bar

From: potatobar.ca

Address: 3525 Platinum Dr, Unit 119
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—12 pm to 12 am
Contact Number: +19055690400
Website

If you’re just looking for a quick and easy snack that’s also filling, then Potato Bar is just the spot for you!

As you can gather from the name, this restaurant is all about potatoes: loaded potatoes, fries, and more. I really like the Mexican Fiesta baked potato; it’s loaded with roasted pulled beef, guacamole, salsa, chipotle, and BBQ sauce, so every forkful is a savoury, smoky, and tangy delight.

Pro Tips:

  • Don’t like any of the potato combinations on the menu? You can just build your own!
  • You can book their catering services for your special event.

Rogues Restaurant

From: roguerestaurant

Address: 1900 Dundas St W, Sherwood Forrest Village

  • Tuesday to Friday—11:30 am to 2 pm, 5 pm to 9 pm
  • Saturday—5 pm to 10 pm
  • Sunday—4 pm to 9 pm

Contact Number: +19058222670
Website

In the mood for a fine dining experience? You might want to head to Rogues Restaurant. Be sure to wear your best outfit!

I tried their pasta special here, and I fell in love! This dish features veal and mushroom ravioli smothered with a cream sauce and topped with shaved fresh truffles. Every forkful is decadent, a wonderful symphony of earthy and savoury flavours.

Pro Tips:

Snug Harbour Seafood Bar and Grill

From: we.eat.to

Address: 14 Stavebank Rd S
Operating Hours

  • Sunday to Thursday—11:30 am to 9:30 pm
  • Friday and Saturday—11:30 am to 10:30 pm

Contact Number: +19052745000
Website

Honestly, I love going to Snug Harbour Seafood Bar and Grill for the vibes. The interior is bright and airy, and in winter, it has a fireplace that makes everything extra cozy. There’s also a patio that overlooks the lovely harbour!

The food here is also pretty good, so even more reason to keep coming here. My go-to order is the pecan-encrusted salmon. I love how the pecan crust adds a nice crunchy texture, and then you get to the salmon, which is tender and flaky.

Flavour-wise, it’s mellow—a bit buttery from the salmon itself and also slightly sweet from the teriyaki glaze. This dish also comes with a sauce that adds a hit of citrusy and even more buttery flavours.

Pro Tip: If you’re planning to dine here with a group of 9 people or more, send a request to [email protected]

The Apricot Tree Cafe

From: apricottreecafe1

Address: 1900 Dundas St W, Units 10 and 19, Sherwood Forrest Village
Operating Hours

  • Tuesday to Thursday—10 am to 8 pm
  • Friday—10 am to 9 pm
  • Saturday—9 am to 9 pm
  • Sunday—10 am to 3 pm

Website

I love brunch, and one brunch spot locals keep recommending to me is The Apricot Tree Cafe. Now that I’ve tried it, I can see why it’s pretty popular. This place is so chill and cozy, and the menu comes with a lot of amazing options.

The Austrian Breakfast is my favourite from the brunch menu. It has all the good stuff: savoury sausages, rich and fluffy eggs, smoky roasted potatoes, tangy sauerkraut, and fresh fruits. Once I finish this meal, I’m energized and ready to take on the world!

Pro Tip: If you love coming here, you might want to join their birthday club. Doing so lets you enjoy fun perks like getting a free meal for your birthday every year!

Taps Public House

From: tapspublichouse

Address: 6570 Meadowvale Town Center Cir
Operating Hours

  • Monday—11:30 am to 12 am
  • Tuesday to Thursday—11:30 am to 1 am
  • Friday—11:30 am to 2 am
  • Saturday—10 am to 2 am
  • Sunday—10 am to 12 am

Taps Public House may have a relaxed atmosphere, but the crowd here usually has high energy. This is why it’s become a favourite hangout spot among my friends. We can chill and goof around at the same time.

Since I love coming here with other people, I tend to order one of the pizzas. My current favourite is the prosciutto and peach. I know that sounds like a strange combination, but the salty and sweet flavours work really well!

Pro Tip: If you want to book an event here, fill out this form

Azkadenya Mediterranean

From: azkadenya.ca

Address: 6111 Erin Mills Pkwy, Unit 3
Operating Hours

  • Sunday to Thursday—10 am to 9 pm
  • Friday and Saturday—10 am to 11 pm

Contact Number: +19058120505
Website

Can’t book a flight to the Mediterranean? No worries, just head to Azkadenya instead. The food here is so good that you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a sunny town in Greece!

If you’re coming for breakfast or brunch, you have to try their shakshuka. It’s three eggs simmered in a tangy and acidic tomato sauce, and it hits the spot every time. Use the pita bread to scoop a handful of the tomatoes and the eggs—oh, how divine!

Pro Tip: If you don’t like the platter options available, you can build your own instead.

Katsuya

From: katsuya_canada

Address: 1224 Dundas St W
Operating Hours

  • Sunday to Thursday—11:30 am to 10 pm
  • Friday and Saturday—11:30 am to 11 pm

Contact Number: +19052772242
Website

Katsu is one of my comfort foods, and if it’s one of yours as well, then you might want to check out Katsuya. This restaurant specializes in katsu, and dare I say it, they’ve really nailed it.

I usually stick to the curry katsu because it’s so hearty, savoury, and umami. But sometimes, I treat myself to their brick cheese katsu, which is essentially 50% pork and 50% cheese. The cheese pull is just so satisfying, and I love how its salty flavours pair well with the pork’s savouriness.

Pro Tip: If you have any food allergies, let your server know so that the chef can provide substitutions for your order.
