The Best Dance Studios in Toronto Helping Torontonians Get into the Groove

dance-studios-in-toronto
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Not long ago, I decided to take a leap and learn how to dance. It was nerve-wracking at first. I was like a robot trying to moonwalk!

But everything changed when I found an amazing dance studio. The instructors were incredibly patient, showing me how to move more fluidly and with confidence.

Though I’ve still got a lot to learn before I can confidently show off my moves, I’m definitely getting there.

That’s why I’ve compiled this list of the best local dance studios, so I can help others find their groove too.

How much does it cost to learn dancing in Toronto?

Attending a group dancing class in Toronto may cost you $20 per session.

Take note that your price can vary depending on the type of dance and the studio you choose.

How We Chose

Dance styles offered – We prefer dance studios that offer a wide range of dance styles, like ballet, hip-hop, salsa, and K-pop.
Facilities – We also picked studios that keep their facilities, including dance floors, mirrors, and changing rooms, clean and well-maintained.
Accessibility – We assessed whether these studios are near major roads and public transit stations. We also looked at whether they have classes on most days of the week.
Professionalism – We evaluated whether their dance teachers are always respectful and kind to their students. We also considered whether they respond to enquiries quickly.
Price fairness – We checked whether their prices are fair considering their teachers’ experience, facilities, accessibility, and class packages offered.

The dance studio I frequent the most is Run The Flex, located on Yonge Street. Officially founded in 2023 by Aaron Aquino-Annobil, Nicole Rosove, and Lisa Heath, this place has deep roots that date back to their dance program in 2017.

What initially drew me to this studio is their 6-week progressive training program that really hones your stage presence and performance skills.

I also love their handy mobile app, which is available on the App Store and Google Play. You can sign up for classes, manage your schedule, and keep track of their rewards program on it.

Speaking of rewards, their Flex Points program lets you earn points for every dollar you spend at the studio, and you can redeem these points for account credits.

However, if there’s one thing I dislike, it’s how fast their classes fill up. I highly recommend booking in advance.

Pros

  • Has a 6-week progressive training program
  • Has a mobile app
  • Loyalty rewards program
  • Offers corporate team-building workshops

Cons

  • Classes tend to get filled up quickly
  • Location a bit far from Toronto’s western suburbs

Amazing studio with a lot of heart

“Amazing studio with a lot of heart. First time taking dance lessons and everyone here is so nice. A super safe space to learn where questions are always welcomed. I’m in the beginner hip hop program and it’s been amazing so far. I already feel a lot of improvement thanks to how attentive the instructors are. 💖”

RTF is my favourite dance studio in Toronto

“RTF is my favourite dance studio in Toronto, hands down. This place shines because of its community, leaders, staff, and owners– every one is personable, kind, open, and so supportive of each person’s dance journey. I often find studios intimidating but the staff and members quickly dissolved those feelings with their welcoming energy.

The teachers, programs, and class selections are great, covering so many styles and levels. They bring in new, current and retired dancers into the studio with ease.

Thank you for opening up your doors to the city! We (I) really needed a place like this to find my joy in dance again! Love ya’ll!”

The Pink Studio is a good option for beginner dancers looking to blend dance and fitness. Founded in 2017 by Natalie Borch, the studio offers a diverse array of classes, including ballet, hip-hop, pilates, and yoga.

What I really love about them is their flexibility. They offer both in-person and livestream classes, so you can join from home if that’s easier. Plus, they have a library of on-demand videos for those times when live classes don’t fit your schedule.

For new parents, their baby-friendly classes are a nice addition. You can bring your pre-walking baby along to your sessions, allowing you to stay active while bonding with your little one.

However, since their primary goal is to turn dancing into a fitness activity, most of their classes are best suited for beginner and intermediate dancers only.

Pros

  • Offers dance and fitness classes
  • Can do livestream classes
  • Has on-demand videos
  • Has baby-friendly classes

Cons

  • Not recommended for advanced dancers
  • Inconsistent operating hours

The studio’s owners and instructors are all wonderful people!

“I’ve never felt safer or more welcome than I have at The Pink Studio. It’s a beautiful space, and the studio’s owners and instructors are all wonderful people!!! I don’t have a dance background at all but I felt so confident taking classes there!”

A unique dance studio that I came across recently is Metro Movement Dance Studio. They were founded in 1989 by Stelio Calagias and Eileen Birk, making them one of the oldest studios in Toronto.

They offer a good variety of dance classes, from ballet to jazz to tap, that are available to all skill levels. You can either attend these classes in person or through an online session.

But what really sets this studio apart is its health clinic. They have a resident registered massage therapist who provides treatments like movement therapy and acupuncture to help dancers stay in top physical condition.

Sadly, their dance lessons cost a bit more than average. I advise that you buy their multiple-class passes so you can save money in the long run.

Pros

  • 35 years of experience
  • Offers online dance classes
  • Has its own health clinic
  • Offers multiple-class passes

Cons

  • Slightly above-average prices
  • Location a bit far from Toronto’s western suburbs

Metro Movement is THE place for professional and emerging artists to train

“Metro Movement is THE place for professional and emerging artists to train, network and find a community of like minded people. The owners Kalie and Phil have done a fabulous job creating a class schedule that caters to all levels and types of performers. Would not be where I am today without this studio and community.”

-Madison Sekulin, Google Reviews

This is my favourite studio

“I’ve been taking classes at Metro Movement for the past couple of years (most notably Theatre Jazz & Tap) and I can honestly say this is my favourite studio I’ve ever been to.

The welcoming environment, state-of-the-art facilities, and impactful teaching styles of the instructors make Metro a MAGICAL training facility.

If you’re in Toronto and want to sharpen your dance skills, Metro is the answer. Always.”
