How We Reviewed

Staff Certification: We carefully checked the professional training and background of the stylists at each local salon. It’s vital that the handlers possess certified expertise to manage different coat types and unique breed requirements safely.
Handling Philosophy: We looked closely at how each facility approaches nervous, elderly, or highly reactive animals. Prioritizing a calm, low-stress environment ensures that every pet feels safe and comfortable throughout their entire visit.
Service Range: Our team evaluated the variety of packages available, including specialized treatments like de-shedding or feline care. A great salon should offer versatile options that cater to both routine hygiene and advanced styling trends.
Facility Safety: We evaluated the cleanliness standards and the overall safety protocols maintained inside the grooming areas. Ensuring the use of well-maintained, comfortable tools protects pets from skin irritation and unnecessary stress.

If you want a luxurious styling experience for a specialized breed, Pawfect Spa is a standout local option.

It’s owned and operated by Elsie Tang, an International Professional Groomers (IPG) Certified Master Groomer with over 20 years of experience. As a result, she guides her team to deliver elite precision hand-scissoring techniques.

Keep in mind that they operate strictly by appointment with a very early final daily slot at 3:00 PM. Plus, the storefront lacks a private parking lot, making drop-offs slightly chaotic.

They’re very good about grooming your dog

Elsie and her team always do a fantastic job with my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Jackson. They are very good about grooming your dog according to breed standards while also incorporating all of your personal requests/modifications. They also provide regular updates with pictures. I highly recommend Pawfect Spa.

Incredibly experienced and attentive

I recently took my dog to Elsie and her team for grooming, and I couldn’t be happier! They are incredibly experienced and attentive, making the whole process stress-free for my pup. After his haircut, he seemed so calm and relaxed, which speaks volumes about the care he received. He looks absolutely adorable with his new cut! I highly recommend for anyone looking for top-notch grooming services.

Address: 642B Queen St. West

Contact: (416) 546 0648 | [email protected]

Hours: Tuesday-Sunday (By appointment only)

When we took my neighbor’s doodle to Pawllywood Pet Grooming, we were immediately impressed by their modern styling philosophy.

In particular, they focus heavily on contemporary trends like Asian Fusion cuts alongside traditional low-maintenance trims.

To top it off, they feature an advanced Nagayu carbon dioxide (CO2) hydrotherapy spa treatment to actively boost skin circulation and refresh dull coats.

They also actively maintain memberships with the Ontario Dog Groomers Association. That’s why every stylist on staff holds formal credentials through accredited schools.

We also learned that safety is a major focus here since the entire team undergoes St. John Pet First Aid training.

The team even handles feline grooming and offers convenient same-day walk-in slots for quick touch-ups.

However, they enforce a strict mandatory no-watch policy where owners can’t view the grooming floor. One more thing: final costs can fluctuate based on severe matting or difficult temperaments.

Pros

  • Convenient Queen Street West downtown location
  • Unique Nagayu carbon dioxide hydrotherapy spa
  • Certified staff trained in pet first aid
  • Transparent size-based base pricing tiers online

Cons

  • Mandatory no-watch safety policy during sessions
  • Final billing fluctuates based on coat condition

Such a wonderful experience

Brought my senior Pomeranian–Chihuahua here for grooming, and she came out looking perfect and incredibly calm. Pawllywood Pet Grooming treated her with so much patience, care, and love. You can truly feel how much they respect and understand senior dogs. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Quality and care are top-notch

Maggie did an amazing job! My pet looks absolutely beautiful after grooming. She’s gentle, professional, and really knows how to make pets feel comfortable. Even though she has now relocated to this Toronto shop, the quality and care are still top-notch. Highly recommend Maggie!

Address: 1684 Queen St W

Contact: (416) 792 1684 | [email protected]

Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 9:00 AM-6:00 PM

Juju Grooms stands out for providing a comforting solution. Specifically, their philosophy centers on force-free, rehabilitative care to transform stressful grooming days into peaceful, positive experiences.

The team brings a unique depth of global expertise to the table, including a certified veterinarian from Ukraine and stylists trained in elite academies across Korea.

They excel at gorgeous Asian-style trims and perfectly sculpted teddy bear aesthetics.

Feline owners can celebrate too, since they launched Kitty Korner. It’s a separate local facility designed specifically to give cats a calm grooming environment.

On top of that, busy owners will love their flexible digital waitlist and smooth online booking platform.

Unfortunately, you can’t use this spot as a temporary substitute for traditional dog daycares. They enforce a strict rule requiring pickup within an hour of completion and refuse excessive dematting that causes pain to our fur buddies.

Pros

  • Award-winning force-free rehabilitation for reactive pets
  • Stylists include an internationally certified veterinarian
  • Separate dedicated feline location called Kitty Korner
  • Convenient online booking and digital waitlist tools

Cons

  • Strict pickup required within an hour max
  • Doesn’t tolerate excessive or painful dematting

An amazing groomer

I’ve always been a little nervous about taking my dog to a new groomer because of past experiences, but everything changed when we met Ayumi over a year ago. She is incredibly patient and caring with my dog, which gives me complete peace of mind knowing he’s safe and well looked after. His grooming always turns out exactly how I hope, and we love going home with the cutest knitted collars Ayumi makes. She truly is an amazing groomer, and I can’t recommend her enough ❤️ 🐾

Super gentle and a real grooming expert

Juju Grooms is a wonderful groomer! Juju has been caring, helpful, super gentle and expert at acclimating our new puppy to the grooming experience. She is patient and careful.  I highly recommend Juju Grooms for all dogs, but especially new puppies and older dogs who need a special, sensitive touch.

4. Fur Bar

fur-bar

Website:http://furbar.ca/

Address: 844 King St W

Contact: (416) 366 7729 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Wednesday, Friday-Sunday 9:00 AM-6:00 PM; Thursday 8:00 AM-6:00 PM

Fur Bar designed a system to eliminate multi-week wait times while ensuring a highly relaxing, gentle environment. The staff uses excellent safety measures, like regularly swapping out their equipment for cooled blades to prevent skin irritation.

They use strictly all-natural, hypoallergenic products to protect sensitive animals from post-groom itching. The salon caters to all sizes alongside a dedicated feline menu featuring lion trims and soft paw nail caps.

As a bonus, weekend availability is a lifesaver for busy downtown professionals facing hectic work weeks.

That said, they only manage external gland expressions, meaning you must visit traditional animal hospitals for advanced medical care. They also restrict minor standalone services if your pet’s fur is excessively dirty, forcing a full package upgrade.

Pros

  • Open seven days a week with extended Thursday hours
  • Fast booking turnarounds to eliminate scheduling delays
  • Uses strictly all-natural hypoallergenic shampoos
  • Employs certified cat groomers for specialized feline trims

Cons

  • Only one physical location within the downtown core
  • Minor standalone services restricted if fur is dirty
  • Limited to external anal gland expressions only

Customer Reviews

Detailed grooming reports are such a thoughtful touch

Fur Bar truly goes above and beyond. They don’t just groom Coco; they genuinely care for her, and it shows every single time. The detailed grooming reports are such a thoughtful touch (because yes, we love a good pup debrief ❤️) and give us complete peace of mind, while the little add-ons and personal attention make Coco feel truly loved and not rushed. She comes home happy, relaxed, and strutting her stuff, which makes us just as happy. A textbook example of how a service-based business should treat its customers (both fur and non-fur): thoughtful, communicative, and consistently exceptional.

Did a great job

I took my cat Aris to Fur Bar today for his first grooming ever. He’s 11 years old. Jenna, the groomer, did a great job! Thank you so much for taking care of my boy. I won’t hesitate to bring him back and to refer you to friends.

This layout makes it easy to stock up on healthy treats and premium food while your companion gets fully pampered.

They also welcome both canines and felines. This inclusive approach makes them an excellent choice for multi-pet households looking to streamline their routines.

To prevent any surprises at checkout, they use a clear, breed-specific pricing system. Better yet, the salon operates seven days a week, giving you plenty of weekend flexibility to book a slot.

Just a heads up: the grooming division shuts down completely at 5:00 PM every single day. They’re also strictly appointment-only, so you can’t drop by on a whim for quick nail trims.

Pros

  • Integrated inside a fully stocked neighborhood retail store
  • Offers professional care for both dogs and cats
  • Open seven days a week for weekend flexibility
  • Clear breed-specific pricing eliminates unexpected costs

Customer Reviews

You get what you want here

What a great experience for myself and my dog. They take so much care to make sure to ask you how you would like your pet to look like and very thorough and caring in making sure you get what you want. My family commented that it is the best grooming she had. My Little one came out pretty and relaxed thank you.

Groomer was very skilled

I took my dog Ringo to his grooming appointment this week. I was pretty nervous, he’s a medium Schnauzer and honestly had a lot of mats in his skirt. I thought they’d have to shave him completely, which had never been necessary before. But it was a pleasant surprise when I saw him! The groomer was very skilled and managed to untangle the mats while keeping the breed’s signature haircut. I highly recommend them, their care and expertise really impressed me.
