Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 12:00-1:00 PM | 4:45-9:00 PM; Tuesday, Thursday 11:00 AM-1:00 PM | 4:45-9:00 PM; Saturday, Sunday 11:30 AM-1:00 PM
Stepping onto the mats at Toronto Kickboxing & Muay Thai Academy immediately removes any intimidation. It’s because they design their training to be completely accessible, so you never have to spar or compete if you prefer focusing on fitness.
They break down the traditional fighter-only stereotype by welcoming people of all ages and skill levels to their spacious facility. When our team popped in, the energy was high, and the trainers kept the atmosphere light but hard-working.
The gym also features a great variety of striking programs, so you can easily switch things up with high-intensity interval training (HIIT), kickboxing, or traditional boxing styles.
But keep in mind that you can’t just jump straight into sparring drills here. The instructors require students to advance through structured technical testing before reaching that stage, which might slow down experienced strikers seeking ring action.
Incredibly supportive and motivating
I’ve been training at TKMT Downtown for about a year now, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. The coaches are not only highly skilled but also incredibly supportive and motivating. The atmosphere at the gym is very welcoming — everyone is friendly and it really feels like a family. Whether you’re new to Muay Thai or have experience, TKMT Downtown is a great place to train, improve, and be part of an amazing community. Highly recommend!

There are classes for all levels
A really great and welcoming gym. The coaches are all great and there are classes for all levels whether you are new or have been sparring for years. Also very clean considering how popular the location is and how much you’ll sweat here (cause you will sweat). They focus very much on technique and knowledge and not just to have a mindless fitness class. Love the spot.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-9:00 PM; Saturday 8:00 AM-3:00 PM
If you prefer a highly analytical approach to martial arts, Montrait Muay Thai and Fitness is a top pick. This studio stands out by combining traditional striking techniques with modern sports science to completely avoid an old-school, sink-or-swim mentality.
Their structured setup is perfect for anyone who wants to track their technical progress using a clear shorts-based ranking system. Plus, their coaching staff keeps you moving efficiently while minimizing injury risks throughout your athletic growth.
They even connect new members with a specific coach who maps out their movement patterns during a private onboarding session. We really appreciate how this onboarding protocol ensures that you build a safe foundation before joining the main group classes.
However, their scientific focus means they have a much stricter entry process than your average kickboxing studio. Experienced students undergo a formal skill placement assessment, so you can’t simply sign up online and drop right into their advanced class.

3. Old School Muay Thai

Website: https://www.oldschoolmuaythai.com/

Hours: Monday-Friday 6:45 AM-8:30 PM; Saturday 10:00 AM-12:30 PM
Old School Muay Thai supports their non-profit division and provides free athletic training to systemically disadvantaged youth and newcomers. They do this by directing membership fees directly to the non-profit.
Founded in 2004 by Kru James Hines (the head instructor), this gym preserves a powerful historical lineage.
As for the coaches, we appreciate that they skip commercial gimmicks to deliver authentic, traditional classes built around technical shadow boxing and intense conditioning.
They also do a fantastic job of meeting students exactly where they are, whether you want to build everyday fitness or prepare for an actual ring bout.
As for the physical environment, it’s more of a traditional training space. If you’re looking for upscale commercial luxury, you won’t find fancy saunas or digital tracking tools here.
But if you aren’t picky about the space, the quality of the technical instruction easily compensates for the lack of frills.
Absolutely authentic Muay Thai training
This is the real deal. Absolutely authentic Muay Thai training in a super welcoming environment. You will not find a better value for legit Muay Thai instruction in the downtown core. experienced, involved instructors will motivate and push you.

This one was the best
Trained at a few gyms, and this one was the best. Stays true to its name. No frills, but you will sweat, learn and leave better than when you entered. James is an awesome instructor who will have you laughing through the pain of the crazy conditioning sessions you’re put through each class. Highly recommend!

4. Lotus Fitness and Thai Boxing Inc.

Website: https://lotusfitness.ca/
Address: 17 Atlantic Avenue
Contact: (437) 747-6701 | [email protected] | For booking specific class schedules
Hours: Monday, Wednesday 12:00-1:00 pm | 5:30-8:00 PM; Tuesday, Thursday 5:30-8 PM; Friday 4:30 PM-7:30 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM-12:00 PM; Sunday 11:00 AM-12:30 PM
While many great gyms in Toronto focus on grappling, Lotus Fitness and Thai Boxing Inc. bring something extra to the table. They feature an active, competitive coaching staff that includes regional, national, and international titleholders.
In particular, you get to learn directly from top-tier martial artists like Charles Chen (the 2025 World Muay Thai Council champion) and Fehn Foss (the 2025 International Federation of Muaythai Associations Pan American Champion).
Plus, the gym is conveniently located and provides an incredibly supportive environment for beginners. Best of all, they don’t pressure anyone who isn’t ready to spar.
Their full grappling program is particularly great if you want to diversify your skill set.
But a clear drawback is that their programs cater exclusively to adults, so families will have to look elsewhere for children’s classes. Also, you must obtain explicit instructor permission and have full safety gear before joining any of their sparring sessions.
This gym is amazing
This gym is amazing. I’ve trained in many different places and this gym has some of the best culture I’ve come across. The trainers are very friendly and helpful and everyone who comes to train here brings a positive attitude without any unnecessary showmanship. I highly recommend trying this place whether you are new or experienced in Muay Thai.

5. MC Muay Thai Academy & Conditioning

Website: https://www.mcmuaythai.com/
Address: 671 Danforth Avenue

Hours: Monday-Thursday 4:00-9:00 PM; Friday 6:00-9:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM-2:00 PM
For anyone searching for supportive training environments similar to women-only gyms in Toronto, MC Muay Thai Academy & Conditioning is a must-visit.
They run a dedicated women’s striking class alongside a teen program that wraps up each session with a mentorship discussion. My friend trains here regularly and told me the coaches maintain a strict, ego-free culture that feels incredibly safe for newcomers.
They also feature great fitness support sessions, such as combat strength and flexibility classes, to boost your overall recovery.
However, the facility intentionally lacks on-site lockers for hygiene purposes, meaning you have to keep your gear bags close by.
It’s also worth noting that their advanced mixed-level sessions require a strict 6- to 8-month experience. With this, you’ll need to spend some serious time sharpening your fundamentals before moving up.
It was such a positive and energetic environment
I went for the MC Muay Thai Open House and loved it! Had so much fun learning the basic conditioning along with meeting the staff and community. It was such a positive and energetic environment to be in, definitely recommend signing up and trying out their free trial class!!
