The Best General Contractors in Toronto Who’ll Make the Most Out of Your Budget

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

We thought a handyman was enough to fix the problem in our parents’ house, but it turned out to be the start of a much bigger list of issues. It was hard to see the home we grew up in needing so much work, especially since it holds so many memories for us.

Instead of letting it fall apart, my siblings and I decided to give it the care it deserves. A full renovation is a big job, though, so we took our time to find a general contractor we could trust to handle it properly.

Now that we’ve done the research, I want to share what we found. Here are the best general contractors in Toronto who can help if you’re planning a major project, too.

How much do general contractors in Toronto charge for their services?

On average, you can expect to pay about 15% of the total project cost for a general contractor in Toronto. The final price can vary depending on the size of the project, the contractor’s experience, and the cost of labour and materials.

How We Chose the Best General Contractors in Toronto

Qualifications and experience – We prefer general contractors with at least three years of professional experience and who are licensed by regulatory bodies in Ontario, such as the Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA).
Work quality – We considered how well each contractor delivers results based on photos of completed projects, opinions we’ve gathered from past clients, and the durability of the materials and finishes they use.
Reliability – We checked whether these contractors show up on time, stick to agreed schedules, and communicate clearly about delays or changes.
Professionalism – We looked at how they treat their clients, how transparent they are about costs, and whether they quickly respond to any enquiries or concerns.
Price fairness – We assessed whether their rates are reasonable given their experience, the quality of their work, the guarantees they offer, and the extra services included.

Toronto General Contractors has only been around since the start of 2025, but they already bring a lot to the table. Most of their work is focused on residential projects, with a strong emphasis on home, kitchen, and condominium renovations.

What stands out to me is their price match guarantee, which means they’ll try to beat any legitimate quote that comes in lower than theirs.

They also make it easier to take on bigger projects by offering financing, which can be a real help when costs start to add up.

To back up the quality of their work, they provide a warranty that ranges from one to seven years, depending on the type of project. They also make it simple to get started by offering free quotes.

Sadly, I’ve noticed that it can take them about a full day to respond to enquiries.

Pros

  • Price match guarantee
  • Warranty coverage from 1–7 years
  • Financing options available
  • Offers free quotes
  • 3D design previews before construction

Cons

  • Relatively new in the industry
  • May take 24 hours to respond to enquiries

CPR24 Restoration provides 24/7 emergency restoration services across the Greater Toronto Area, handling water damage, fire damage, mold remediation, and property repairs. They respond quickly in emergencies to minimize further harm and restore buildings back to safe conditions.

Their service repertoire includes water extraction, structural drying, ceiling and wall repairs, mold remediation, smoke and odor removal, and full renovations post-damage. They also handle cleanup of damaged materials (drywall, flooring, insulation) and coordinate with insurers.

They carry out restorations for both residential and commercial properties, from small homes to larger commercial buildings, ensuring consistent service standards. Their teams combine emergency response with reconstruction expertise for seamless project flow.

Clients appreciate their professionalism and transparent communication during stressful situations, often noting the swift response and clear updates. Many commend their ability to guide property owners through insurance, damage assessment, and scheduling.

Their capacity to manage both emergency restoration and full remediation reduces the need for multiple contractors, streamlining the repair and rebuild process for clients. This one-stop approach is especially valuable after disasters.

One drawback is that some restoration jobs—especially extensive damage or large commercial works—can become costly, and turnaround times depend heavily on scope, permitting, and material availability.

Pros

  • Rapid emergency response (24/7)
  • Broad service scope including water, fire, mold, reconstruction
  • Handles both residential and commercial projects
  • Clear communication and coordination with insurers
  • Combines restoration and rebuild roles

Cons

  • Costs can escalate significantly for large or complex restoration projects

Fast and Professional Emergency Cleanup

They dried everything out and cleaned it far quickly than I expected. They dealt with all the flooring and drywall repairs as well. To be honest, they made a stressful situation much easier to deal with. Highly recommend CPR24 Restoration for all water damage restoration work!”

If you’re looking for flexibility, Toronto Height Construction is worth a look. They’ve been around for more than a decade and take on both home renovations and commercial builds.

What stands out is their modular construction service for commercial projects. By fabricating sections in their factory and assembling them quickly on site, they can save time and reduce costs.

They also offer millwork, which is useful if you want detailed wall panelling or decorative finishes in a building. Furthermore, they can handle preventative and corrective maintenance to keep properties in good condition.

The catch is that their focus leans heavily toward commercial clients. Services like modular construction and millwork aren’t really available for homeowners, so residential clients may find the options limited.

Another drawback is the lack of a clear warranty policy, which can be a concern if you’re still comparing options.

Pros

  • 10 years of experience
  • Offers modular construction for faster builds
  • Provides custom millwork services
  • Can do preventative and corrective maintenance work
  • Free quotes for new clients

Cons

  • Stronger focus on commercial clients than residential
  • No clear warranty policy outlined

Their team did an excellent job

Since we wanted real assurance that our money would be well spent, we chose CSG Renovation for our project. They have more than a decade of experience with both residential and commercial work in Toronto, which gave us confidence.

What I really liked was their warranty and aftercare. They provide a lifetime limited warranty on cabinetry and fixtures, along with a 5-year warranty that covers the rest of the renovation.

They also run an aftercare program, so if issues come up after the job is done, you’re not left on your own.

Financing was another plus, since the issues with our family home came up unexpectedly. The free estimate also made it easier to compare options before committing.

However, it’s annoying that there are times when we have to resend enquiries to get a reply. A few clients I spoke with also mentioned delays in finishing their projects.

Pros

  • More than 10 years of experience
  • Offers lifetime warranty on certain materials
  • 5-year warranty on broader renovation work
  • Has an aftercare program for post-renovation support
  • Free estimates
  • Financing options available

Cons

  • Sometimes suffers from project delays
  • Has an aftercare program for post-renovation support

One of the best renovation experiences I have had

“I want to thank CSG renovation for one of the best renovation experiences I have had. Zeev and his crew are adept at working in small condo spaces, providing invaluable experience to open a space up and make it lighter and more workable. Custom-made cabinets gave me more storage than ever and design tips such as adding sliding doors allowed my main condo bathroom, even with its compact size, to feel more spacious than I could have imagined.

In addition, they kept track of the budget so that there were no surprises, and met every deadline. Zeev’s workers are excellent, meticulous and helpful.

I cannot recommend CSG construction too highly!”

I truly appreciated working with Zeev, Andrew, and Vitali—one of the top teams in the Greater Toronto Area!”

Astaneh Construction has been around since 2013 and is a general contractor I’d recommend if you’re planning more than a simple renovation. They handle full home projects but also take on additions, landscaping, and even pool construction!

A big perk is that they include architectural permit drawings for major projects, which can save a lot in Toronto, where permits are usually a headache.

They also offer a free consultation and site visit, which helps you figure out if your ideas are realistic before you spend anything.

Their work comes with a one-year workmanship warranty. It would be nice if that coverage were longer, but at least it’s something. The main drawback is cost, with full home renovations starting around $450,000.

Pros

  • Wide range of services
  • More than 10 years of experience
  • Free architectural permit drawings for major projects
  • Free consultation and site visit

Cons

  • 1-year warranty is shorter than some competitors
  • Above-average prices

They provided a high quality of workmanship

“Astaneh Construction managed a major renovation of our home and we are very happy with the result and overall aesthetic. They provided a high quality of workmanship and were able to deliver the project on time. We highly recommend their services. Thank you to the whole team for all your effort!”

If experience is what matters most to you, iRemodel Home Renovation is worth a look. These folks have more than two decades of experience carrying out projects like home renovations and custom home builds.

What impressed me is that they’re willing to tackle heritage home renovations. Those can be complicated, since properties listed under the Ontario Heritage Act need special permits that aren’t part of a standard renovation. It shows they’re comfortable handling the kind of work many contractors avoid.

I also like that they offer free consultations, which makes it easier to get started, and they often run promotions such as a 20% discount on renovation projects.

On the downside, their 1-year warranty feels a bit short, and I’ve heard that their final price sometimes differs from the initial quote they’ve given.

Pros

  • More than 20 years of experience
  • Can do heritage home renovations
  • Offers free consultations
  • Occasional promotions and discounts

Cons

  • 1-year warranty is shorter than some competitors
  • Final price sometimes differs from initial quote

Work was efficiently completed within a week

“Daryoush and his team did a wonderful job with my full kitchen renovation! The communication was very fast and the work was efficiently completed within a week. The kitchen looks exactly as I imagined and the attention to detail was much appreciated. I will definitely be using them again for future renovations as I can rely on them for a job well done. My new kitchen is absolutely beautiful!”

We would highly recommend his services.”
