We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Dim sum has always been a favourite of mine, especially when enjoyed with family or friends. There’s something special about choosing dishes as they roll by, filled with steaming dumplings and crispy treats.

The excitement of picking out the perfect bites makes the meal even more enjoyable. While some places now use menu cards, the charm of the traditional push cart style is something I’ll always appreciate.

If you’re looking for the best spots to experience this, I’ve got you covered. Check out the best local dim sum restaurants with push carts!

How much do dim sum dishes typically cost in Toronto?

Dim sum meals in Toronto generally cost between $6 and $10 per order, with a full meal typically ranging from $30 to $90 depending on the items selected.

Some dishes may be priced higher based on size and type.

How We Chose

Food Quality: We looked for restaurants where the food tastes fresh and is cooked well. We made sure the dishes, like dumplings and fried items, were flavorful and prepared just right every time.
Service: We focused on restaurants with friendly and helpful staff. We also checked how well the servers managed the push carts and whether they explained the dishes clearly.
Ambience and Vibe: We chose places with a clean and comfortable atmosphere. We wanted the restaurant to feel welcoming and add to the overall experience of dining there.
Value: We considered whether the food was worth the price. We looked for places that offered a good amount of food for the cost, whether it was a casual meal or a more upscale option.
Menu Variety: We looked for restaurants with a variety of dishes to suit different tastes. Whether it’s vegetarian, gluten-free, or classic dim sum, we wanted to make sure there were plenty of choices.

Dim Sum King Seafood Restaurant offers a classic experience with push carts constantly circulating the dining room. You don’t need a menu, as you simply choose dishes as they pass by, which adds an element of surprise to the meal.

The dumplings were definitely the highlight of the meal for me, with the pork dumplings standing out as particularly memorable. I also really enjoyed the pork and shrimp combination, and the rice noodle dish in soy sauce was worth trying.

For some added variety, the Chinese string beans and crispy pork are great options. The fried chicken wings and spring rolls round out the meal nicely, though the dumplings and noodles remain the stars of the show.

One downside is that the carts often arrive all at once, which can feel overwhelming. This can lead to too much food at once, making it harder to enjoy everything at a comfortable pace.

While the restaurant can get busy, the large seating area helps accommodate guests. If you prefer a more relaxed experience, take-out or delivery is also available, but dining in offers a more adventurous way to explore new dishes.

Pros

  • Authentic dumplings
  • Variety of dishes from the food carts
  • Fun and adventurous dining experience
  • Large seating area for many guests
  • Take-out and delivery available

Cons

  • Simultaneous arrival of push carts can feel overwhelming

Classic dim sum experience with a traditional touch

“Met up with some friends for dim sum. They have the traditional push cart with a various dim sum dishes. If you do not want to wait for the push cart to arrive, can take your check and go up to the push cart and ask for the dish that you want. Weekend this place can get packed. Week days not so crowded, don’t expect your favorite dim sum dish to be available.  Service was good.  For people that have not experience dim sum, they do have a menu with the photo and name of the dish.”

Fresh flavours and generous portions

“Consistently on all the lists of Toronto’s Chinatown best restaurants, we just had to check out Dim Sum King for our first night in Toronto. My dad loves dim sum and fresh seafood, Cantonese-style. This place did not disappoint!

Portions were generous, and the seafood and vegetables were fresh. Service was pretty fast, too.

I made reservations just in case, but I don’t think I needed to, as there were many tables available when we went, 6:30pm on a Tuesday.

Would definitely come here again the next time I’m in Toronto!”

Traditional dim sum with great value and atmosphere

“I always enjoy my visits to Sky Dragon. The food is consistently fresh and tasty. Some highlights are the chives and shrimp pancake (#20) and rice noodle roll w/ pork and green onion (#39). It’s one of the least expensive dim sum options in Chinatown, but the quality is still good.

Great views of the city from the dining room. It’s fun taking the elevator or stairs to the top of the Dragon City mall.

Are there better dim sum places in the city? Absolutely. But food/atmosphere/staff are great at Sky Dragon, especially given its price point.”

Old school dim sum with a light touch and great value

“Sky Dragon restaurant is located on the top floor of Dragon City mall. I used to come here often with my family when I was a child. Visited here for the first time in 15 years and it was pleasant to see not much has changed (in a good way).  If you’re looking for a place that has a very traditional chinese feel, this place is it. (The chair covers, plastic tablecloths, red carpet and dragon backdrop). Dim Sum is great but do not expect anything special. Very old school authentic and have all the classic dishes. What I enjoyed most about the food is that, it was light. Most dim sum places I go to, the food feels heavy and I’m thirsty cause of the salt after I eat it. Super underrated and best bang for you buck, in my opinion.

Theres only a few dim sum places left here in the Chinatown area and this is probably my favorite. I have now gone a few times since not coming here for 15 years. If you want the best in the general area.. I’d say go to Moon Palace a few blocks down the road the restaurant is very modern. Rol San is place often mentioned down the street, but I personally think its way too hyped and overrated for the quality they serve. Its more of a place you go to if your north american caucasian friend wants to try dim dum for the first time, just to they’ve tried it. Rosewood one of the ones that has a little bit more modern decor blended with tradition chiense. Has all you can eat which is awesome and a lot more variety on the menu but I feel like their quality has gone down. Dim Sum King on Dundas beside is not bad, very similar to Sky Dragon in atmosphere.. but I got an upset stomach the last time I ate there.”

A family favorite with great value and nostalgic charm

“Perfect Chinese Restaurant has been a staple in my family for years. My dad absolutely loves this place for its reasonable prices and decent food. It’s been part of our family traditions since my firstborn to my third, especially for special celebrations like moon day or 100 days. Despite trying to introduce him to fancier restaurants, he always sticks with Perfect Chinese. Honestly, it holds so many great memories that I’ll continue coming here for that reason alone.

The recent expansion with new private rooms has been a fantastic addition. We just celebrated my sister-in-law’s 80th birthday in one of these rooms, which comfortably accommodated our group of 40+ people. The food was great, and the space was perfect for our celebration.

During our recent visit, my family from LA and the UK joined us. My dad’s love for this place means we don’t argue about the choice; we just go with the flow to keep him happy. We ordered the Peking duck meal with some additional side dishes. The food was good, as usual. My daughter was a bit upset about the limited number of wraps for the duck, as we are used to having unlimited wraps at home, but that’s a minor gripe.

Overall, I still love Perfect Chinese Restaurant for its 24-hour dim sum. For the price, you really can’t go wrong with decent food and the great space for private parties. It remains a place of cherished memories for our family, and I highly recommend it for its value and convenience.”

Great service, generous portions, and family-friendly atmosphere

“Went there based on reviews and was pleasantly surprised. Our server, Alfred, was very helpful with suggestion and a sharp wit. The portions were ample and the taste was very good. We ordered the dinner for 4 and a few extra items like dim sum and spicy fried wings. The food came our faster than expected.

Will definitely revisit when we are in the area again.

Vegetarian options: There were a few, part of our set meal included steamed vegetables and was so full of flavour.

Parking: The other businesses in the lot were closed as it was after hours so the entire parking lot was dedicated to Perfect Chinese Restaurant. I suppose it may be a little tight during daytime hours but seemed to be many parking slots.

Kid-friendliness: There were other families with younger kids and they seemed to be having a good time.”

Casa Deluz Banquet Hall is a go-to for authentic Cantonese and Chinese dishes, including dim sum, BBQ, seafood, and stir-fries. With prices from $20 to $30, the automated push cart offers favourites like har gow, roasted duck, and egg tarts.

The cozy atmosphere and professional staff create a welcoming environment for family dinners or larger gatherings. While the restaurant can get crowded and loud, especially on weekends, the lively vibe adds to its charm for many guests.

We visited on a Sunday morning and waited about 20 minutes for a table, as the venue was already packed. With several diners in the mornings, the energy is vibrant, though finding parking might require using other mall entrances.

Expect a 12% automatic service fee, and note that cash payments on weekends don’t offer discounts. Despite these minor inconveniences, Casa Deluz stands out for its delicious food, excellent service, and bustling atmosphere.

Pros

  • Automated push cart service
  • Wide variety of dishes
  • Cozy atmosphere for family dinners
  • Free parking available

Cons

  • Can be noisy and crowded
  • 12% service fee added
  • No discounts for cash payments on weekends

Delicious dim sum with a lively atmosphere

“We arrived as a party of two around 10:20 a.m. on a Sunday morning, and the restaurant was already packed. We waited about 20 minutes for a table.

The dim sum was excellent, and our favorite dish was the crispy shrimp (three pieces). Even though my husband isn’t usually a fan of fried food, he was pleasantly surprised by how crispy it was. The ha gow and siu mai were also good, but I wasn’t as impressed with the pan-fried trio (turnip, taro, and ginger) or the steamed scallop dim sum, which was mostly filled with imitation crab rather than actual scallop.

The restaurant is a large banquet-style venue, so it can get crowded and quite loud, which was a bit of a downside for us. Also, keep in mind they automatically charge a 12% service fee, and paying with cash on weekends doesn’t offer any discounts.”

A must-visit for dim sum lovers in the GTA

“My go to dim sum place . Probably the biggest dim sum restaurant in the GTA. There is always 500-600 people for dim sum in the morning, weekday or weekend. The mall’s car park can get filled quickly . You can park at other mall entrances and access the restaurant from inside the mall.

Shout out to Lucy who always takes care of us so well! Also to Kitty.

I definitely recommend you visit this place for dim sum. The more people the better as you can many more of the their dishes. There is a huge dim sum menu and you can also order daily menu specials.

I have also tried their dinner service a few times as well, food is great. They had a Peking duck special on Mondays – definitely worth a visit but I think they have paused the special.”

Perfect for special occasions with great food and a stunning lake view

“An appropriate Toronto restaurant to mark an occasion or simply treat a friend. Food is varied and carefully prepared. Service is attentive and correct. The setting is clean and attractive with a marvellous view of the lake. We have celebrated family birthdays here for the past several years. There has never been a disappointment.

Great value, fast service, and excellent dim sum with a stunning view

“A dining gem with a stunning view, Pearl Chinese Cuisine offers excellent service, tasty food, and great value. The restaurant’s atmosphere is elevated by its lovely view, making for a truly enjoyable dining experience. Service was attentive and quick, ensuring we never had to wait long for anything. The ribs were not only delicious but generously portioned, and the pork sparerib stood out for its rich garlic broth. The dim sum (pork dumpling and shrimp dumpling) was an absolute treat. The pan fried hockey puck dumpling were great too. Food arrived promptly, and the prices were surprisingly affordable. Overall, every dish was a hit, making Pearl Chinese Cuisine a place I’ll certainly visit again.”
