The Best Blood Test Clinics in Toronto for the Most Accurate and Quickest Results

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

With how expensive healthcare is nowadays, I’ve made a conscious effort to keep my body healthy at all times. That includes performing regular check-ups, where blood tests play a key role.

These tests tell me whether my cholesterol and blood sugar levels are within acceptable levels. Luckily, getting a blood test in Toronto isn’t a challenge, as the city has many clinics that offer it.

Here are the top clinics you can trust!

How much does a blood test cost in Toronto?

In Toronto, most blood tests are covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan). However, if you’re not covered by OHIP, a basic blood test may cost you $70.

How We Chose

Range of tests offered – We prefer clinics that offer a wide range of tests, including standard panels for general health checkups and specialised tests for specific conditions.
Service quality – We assessed whether these clinics can offer reliable services based on their timeliness, accuracy of results, and overall customer satisfaction.
Accessibility – We evaluated whether these clinics are near major roads or have mobile blood collection services that can serve most areas in Toronto. We also looked at whether they’re open on most days of the week.
Customer service – We checked whether their staff are always on time for their appointments and treat patients respectfully. We also considered whether they respond quickly to calls and emails.

Let’s start with one of the biggest providers of blood tests in Canada, Lifelabs Medical Laboratory. Founded in 1969, they boast an impressive number of clinics in Toronto—ten to be exact.

One thing about this clinic I can totally praise is its accessibility. Not only does it feature plenty of locations in the city, but it also offers a robust mobile lab service that’s available anywhere in the GTA.

It’s also great that Lifelabs has a special blood test service for people with autism. It features specially trained staff and visual support like toys to reduce anxiety among patients.

Still, I should warn you that most of their clinics have long waiting lines, given their extreme popularity.

Pros

  • 55 years of experience
  • 10 locations in Toronto
  • Offers mobile lab services
  • Special blood test service for autistic patients

Cons

  • Long waiting lines
  • Unpunctual staff

The best laboratory that I have ever been to in Toronto

“Wow! I give 5 stars because they deserve to have a 5 star review! Amazing service and the staff are really kind and friendly. I would say the best laboratory that I have ever been to in Toronto. Very on time.”

“Always a great service here! Staff is quick and helpful. Be sure to book an appointment. Walk-ins should prefer past noon for less or no waiting time”

For over 20 years, Panel Physician has provided medical and laboratory testing services to the immigrants of Toronto. They currently operate five locations in the GTA and offer services like blood tests, x-rays, urine tests, and more.

Being an immigrant-centric healthcare provider, it’s no surprise that they have a multilingual staff that can speak in different languages. They also have a telephone translation for any language they can’t speak.

What’s also impressive about them is that they can provide same-day services. They can also submit your results directly to the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) as soon as they’re available.

Given that most of their patients aren’t covered by OHIP, I appreciate that they offer special discounts to refugees and asylum seekers.

However, it sucks to hear that they sometimes forget to respond to enquiries.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • 5 locations in the GTA
  • Multilingual staff
  • Same-day services
  • Special discounts to refugees and asylum seekers

Cons

  • Sometimes forgets to respond to enquiries
  • Charges extra on weekends and holidays

I booked my appointment online and it was very quick

“It was a very good experience. I booked my appointment online and it was very quick. Staff is too good and humble. They guided me each and every step very clearly. I would like to recommend everyone to visit here for their medical exam. It’s very convenient.”

Dynacare is a veteran provider of medical lab tests and has been in the industry since 1959. With 18 locations in Toronto and a mobile lab service serving the entire GTA, they’re one of the most accessible options you can pick for your blood tests.

Aside from their impressive reach, another great thing about this clinic is the huge variety of blood tests offered. One particular test of theirs that I’d like to mention is their Harmony non-invasive prenatal test, which uses blood to provide accurate screening for any sex chromosome abnormalities.

They also have specialised blood tests for conditions like diabetes and thyroid issues.

However, while I do find their services to be quite amazing, the same couldn’t be said for their staff. Some former patients I’ve talked to had criticised them for being rude.

Pros

  • 65 years of experience
  • 18 locations in Toronto
  • Has mobile lab service
  • Offers non-invasive prenatal blood tests

Cons

  • Some rude staff
  • Unavailable on weekends

It is my go-to lab!

“I have been to this location a few times. It is always pleasant to see their people there. I was served by Vanessa today too. Although my tests were long as I had to have a time interval between them, she accommodated me in a special way. I felt a lot comfortable and relaxed, so the experience was very positive in fact. I truly appreciate her kindness. It is my go-to lab!”

Definitely going here regularly for my blood test needs

“Clean facility, and the staff is very efficient and friendly. I am afraid of needles and blood but Risa made sure to take my blood quickly and without any pain! Definitely going here regularly for my blood test needs.”

Integra Health Centre is a BIPOC, female-owned clinic founded in 2015. They’re quite different from the other clinics I’ve mentioned on this list since they run under a collaborative care model.

With this model, they combine primary care, mental health, lab tests, and wellness services under one roof. Here, you won’t need to visit another healthcare provider to interpret your blood test results since they already have qualified physicians on-site.

Another advantage of this model is that it can accommodate same-day appointments and produce accurate results in as little as 48 hours. You can enjoy their services from any of their two locations in Toronto.

Unfortunately, they tend to get fully booked quickly, so be sure to book days in advance!

Pros

  • Two locations in Toronto
  • Collaborative care model
  • Accepts same-day appointments
  • Test results within 48 hours

Cons

  • Tends to reach max capacity quickly
  • Inconsistent operating hours

The whole team was friendly and efficient

“I recently had an appointment with Dr. Emilie Sagripanti. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and so kind and caring. She really listens and makes sure we understand everything. She goes out of her way to help, and follows up after the appointment. The whole team was friendly and efficient.”

-Frédérique Charron, Google Reviews

I’d recommend them to anyone looking for same-day appointments

“Integra Health Center rises beyond the standard from professionalism to cleanliness. Their receptionist, Mithun, was a delight and the physician I saw, kind and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and the attention to care spot on. My visit at Integra was unhurried for the first time in a while and, without delay, unlike busier clinics in the city. I’d recommend them to anyone looking for same-day appointments.”

Another renowned provider of blood tests and other lab services in Toronto is Med-Health Laboratories. Founded in 1989, they’re an ISO 15189 Plus-accredited lab and can provide high-quality tests from any of their eight locations in the GTA.

Currently, they can test for things like glucose levels, cholesterol levels, platelet count, and more. For most routine tests, you can expect results within 24 to 48 hours.

Of course, speedy test results are worthless if the patient can’t see them immediately. Thankfully, that’s not the case, as Med-Health has a free online patient portal where you can see your test results as soon as they’re available.

Sadly, not everything is great with these guys, as some former patients told me they encountered rude behaviour from this clinic’s staff.

Pros

  • 35 years of experience
  • 8 locations in Toronto
  • ISO 15189 Plus-accredited lab
  • Has mobile lab service
  • Test results within 24 hours
  • Has a free online patient portal

Cons

  • Some rude staff
  • Sometimes forgets to respond to enquiries
