The Southern Ontario Epilepsy Clinic (SOEC), led by the expert Dr. Eduard Bercovici, is a top-tier destination for neurology care. Located near the Queensway Health Centre, they provide general neurology, electroencephalogram tests, and epilepsy management services.
If there’s one thing I highly value about them, it’s their diverse offerings that extend beyond the usual neurology services. In fact, Dr. Eduard is an advocate of the use of ketogenic diet therapy to help patients manage their epilepsies.
It’s also worth mentioning that they can perform independent medical examinations and provide combat sports licences to aspiring athletes. If you think you have what it takes to be an MMA fighter, they can help you out!
However, the clinic’s popularity means they tend to get fully booked quickly. Their location is also a bit far for some of Toronto’s northern residents.

Another neurology clinic I can recommend is Danforth Neurology, located only a few metres from the Chester subway station. It’s currently led by Dr. Adrian Fawcett, a neurologist with more than a decade of experience.
Dr. Adrian is skilled enough to treat patients suffering from stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and concussion. However, his specialty is dealing with severe headaches and can perform Botox therapies to block the neurotransmitters that carry pain signals from your brain.
Furthermore, he can also perform thorough Alzheimer’s disease testing, which checks for any abnormal proteins in your cerebrospinal fluid.
Sadly, it’s very hard to book an appointment with Dr. Adrian due to the high demand for his services. As of the time of this writing, it’ll take you at least 45 days of waiting before you can see him.

The Toronto Memory Program is a neurology clinic that specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Led by Dr. Sharon Cohen since 1996, they have one of the largest clinical trial programs for Alzheimer’s disease in Canada.
They offer plenty of treatments to help manage this nasty disease. One example is their Communication Therapy for Adults (CTA) service, which provides customised strategies and skills to help patients maintain their social connections.
This clinic can also assist those who are suffering from other debilitating neurological illnesses like Parkinson’s and dementia. They have a special facility where patients can learn how to manage the movement disorders they suffer from as a result of these illnesses.
Overall, they’re certainly an amazing choice for almost everyone. It just sucks that they require a physician referral for all their services, which might be a barrier for some patients.

As its name suggests, 360 Concussion Care is a clinic that specialises in concussion treatment. They have a diverse team of medical professionals, including Dr. Achelle Cortel-LeBlanc, a bilingual neurologist with five years of professional experience.
They offer plenty of treatments to help their patients recover quickly. A particular example I’m impressed with is their PREVENT program, which uses neuromuscular training to stabilise the head and neck.
In doing so, it can reduce the likelihood of sustaining another concussion.
Aside from treating concussions, this clinic also provides other brain-related services like neuropsychological testing. Thankfully, they don’t require physician referrals, making it easy to access their services.
However, it should be noted that they sometimes don’t respond to enquiries. Combined with their lack of a proper online booking system, setting an appointment here can sometimes be a hassle.

Established in 1948, a key advantage they have as one of Toronto’s premier hospitals is their advanced equipment. In fact, they’re one of the first in the country to feature a complete range of neuromodulation treatments in a single facility.
For those who are unaware, neuromodulation is the use of chemicals or electrical stimulation to normalise or improve nervous tissue function.
They also have a Rapid Response Stroke Team that can provide immediate treatment to suspected stroke patients 24/7.
These impressive services are carried out by their neurology department, currently led by Dr. Brian J. Murray. A practising neurologist since 2001, he’s got years of experience in this field.
Sadly, it can be a bit hard to access their treatments since this hospital has long wait times most of the time.
