Stay comfy no matter the season with the best HVAC services in Toronto!

Buying a house below market price always comes with a catch, and in my case, it was the HVAC system. The place I recently purchased already showed signs of ageing in that department, but I wasn’t too worried.

I’ve always preferred upgrading to the latest models anyway, especially knowing how much more energy efficient they’ve become. So, I called up an HVAC contractor I’d been hearing great things about, and the experience couldn’t have gone better.

That got me thinking—why not share the names of the best HVAC contractors in Toronto so others can skip the guesswork and find reliable help right away?

How much does an HVAC system cost in Toronto?

A brand new complete HVAC system in Toronto will cost you around $11,500. Keep in mind that the final price can vary depending on the system you choose, the labour involved, the size of your home, and how complex the installation turns out to be.

How We Chose

Experience and licensing – We looked for HVAC contractors with a solid track record, ideally with three years of experience and proper licensing through the Technical Standards and Safety Authority to ensure they meet city requirements.
Technical expertise – We evaluated whether they specialize in a range of systems, such as high-efficiency furnaces and ductless air conditioning units, and whether they stay up to date with the latest energy-saving technologies.
Service reliability – We checked their past work and interviewed past clients to see if they consistently deliver on time, keep their work areas tidy, and follow through on what they promise.
Availability – We considered whether they can schedule work promptly, handle seasonal demand, and provide emergency service when heating or cooling fails at the worst possible time.
Customer support – We looked at how well they communicate before, during, and after installation, whether they honour warranties without hassle, and if they offer maintenance plans that make long-term care easier.

Enercare is one of those names you can’t really miss in Toronto. They’ve been around since the 1950s and now handle almost everything in HVAC, including heating, cooling, plumbing, and duct cleaning.

What stands out to me are the guarantees they put forward. The Home Comfort Guarantee means they’ll return if your new system doesn’t keep the temperature you were promised. The No Lemon Guarantee offers a free replacement if your new furnace or air conditioner fails within five years.

They even have a Client Respect Guarantee that gives you two years of free HVAC maintenance if their technicians ever treat you or your home poorly.

Still, it’s disappointing that they sometimes fail to show up to their appointments. Their prices also run higher than most of their competitors.

Pros

  • More than 70 years of experience
  • 24/7 emergency support available
  • 5-year warranty on furnaces and air conditioners
  • Customer satisfaction guarantee
  • Free maintenance for 2 years if client received poor customer service

Cons

  • Sometimes fails to show up to appointments
  • Above-average prices

This whole process was so simple and efficient

“This whole process was so simple and efficient, Tyler’s knowledge about what we needed was so helpful and the communication with him was fast and detailed. Would definitely recommend them to friends or future customers. Thank you for such a pleasant experience.”

It was a great experience

“Ricardo came over for a furnace and A/C system inspection and it was a great experience. He explained the process and was very respectful of my home even though the yard had some construction debris and made it somewhat difficult getting to the A/C unit. There was no pressure to buy extra services on the spot as well which was a relief for me.”

Reliance has been serving Toronto for more than 60 years, so they’re one of the more established names you can call for HVAC work. They started out with heating and cooling but now handle plumbing, water systems, and even electrical jobs.

I like that they provide a free in-home consultation, since it gives you a chance to get advice before making a decision.

Their guarantees stand out too, especially the Next Day or We Pay 500 promise that ensures you’ll get a $500 compensation if they fail to install your HVAC system within the next day.

They also have a 1-year money-back guarantee if you’re not satisfied with your new system.

On the downside, I’ve noticed that their reps can be a bit pushy with upselling during consultations, and there are times when they don’t arrive as promptly as expected.

Pros

  • More than 60 years of experience
  • Free in-home consultations
  • “Next Day or We Pay 500” installation guarantee
  • 1-year money-back guarantee for new systems
  • Offers yearly HVAC maintenance plans

Cons

  • Unpunctual staff
  • Reps can be pushy with upselling during consultations

Thank you for making the experience as pleasant as possible

“I recently had two amazing experiences with Reliance. One in London for the replacement of my water heater and another in Toronto to replace my furnace. In both instances from the initial call to installation they were on time, knowledgeable, polite, courteous and accommodating. Thank you for making the experience as pleasant as possible.”

Excellent service from start to finish

“Excellent service from start to finish. Our AC was not working in the middle of the heat wave. The advisor, Prafull Mahajan, was very helpful with the choices and decision-making. He was very attentive with following up with the installation process. I am so glad that we switched to Reliance.”

AtlasCare has been around Toronto since 1932, which is quite impressive. They cover a wide range of HVAC needs, including furnaces, air conditioners, duct cleaning, water heaters, and electrical work.

One of the best things about them is that they’re available around the clock and don’t tack on extra fees if you call at night or on a holiday. They can also provide same-day services for non-emergency cases.

I also appreciate that they back their work with a 1-year warranty and offer payment plans to make big jobs easier on the wallet.

However, please note that they don’t serve most neighbourhoods in the eastern GTA area, like Oshawa and Ajax. Some folks also told me that they sometimes miss appointments.

Pros

  • Almost 100 years of experience
  • Available 24/7 for emergencies with no extra after-hours fees
  • Same-day service for non-urgent issues
  • 1-year warranty on services
  • Flexible payment plans

Cons

  • Limited coverage in eastern GTA
  • Sometimes fails to show up to appointments

They were fast and efficient!

“Great customer service. They were fast and efficient! They rectify any problems you have after installation and are quick to do it until the customer is completely satisfied. Five stars on this one. Shout out to management for listening and reacting pronto! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

Even though I bought my new home at a below-market price, it still put a serious dent in my finances. That’s why I was relieved to find Bullet Proof Heating & Cooling, an HVAC contractor with more than a decade of experience.

Payment flexibility is where they really stood out. They set me up with a financing plan that made my new system easier to manage, and they even helped me secure a government rebate that saved me thousands!

I also liked that they offer rent-to-own options for people with little or no credit history. Their warranties are another plus, with 10 years on parts and 1 year on labour.

The only drawback was the service process itself. I had to make several follow-up calls (due to their lack of response), and my appointment was rescheduled more than once before they finally came through.

Pros

  • More than 10 years of experience
  • Offers smart thermostat options
  • Rent-to-own and financing options available
  • Can help with government rebates and incentives
  • 10-year warranty on parts
  • 1-year warranty on labour
  • Free online estimates

Cons

  • Sometimes misses enquiries
  • Sometimes reschedules appointments abruptly

Excellent service from start to finish

“Excellent service from start to finish. He arrived right on time, quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem with our air conditioning system. Very professional, did a clean job, and was genuinely kind and respectful in our home. Highly recommended!”

Bullet Proof Heating was a life saver for me!

“Bullet proof heating was a life saver for me! When my AC crashed on me in my condo, I called another company who diagnosed a broken compressor, and tried to replace the entire unit with a quote of $4800!!! I called Bullet Proof for a second opinion and their expertise clearly showed. They quickly identified the compressor WAS working, but wasn’t properly receiving the signal to start up. After an hour or two of diagnostics, they were able to get the unit up and running again without any replacements and at a small fraction of the other company’s cost. Strongly recommend for any condo heat pump issues—I wish I had gone to them first!”

If you live in a condo or manage a high-rise, Home Trade Standards is worth knowing. They’ve been around since 2014 and focus on installing and repairing HVAC systems you often see in these buildings, including Magic Pak and Skymark units.

They also offer preventative maintenance, which can help you avoid leaks or sudden AC failures in the middle of summer.

I find their warranties to be quite solid, with 5 to 10 years on parts and a 1-year labour warranty. Financing is available, too, in case your budget is a bit tight at the moment.

On the flip side, they don’t provide duct cleaning, so you’d need another contractor for that. They also charge a service inspection fee of $180, which is something to keep in mind before booking.

Pros

  • More than 10 years of experience
  • Specializes in installing and repairing high-rise HVAC systems
  • Preventative maintenance programs available
  • 5- to 10-year warranty on parts
  • 1-year warranty on labour
  • Offers financing options

Cons

  • No duct cleaning services offered
  • $180 service inspection fee

Everything was handled efficiently and with great attention to detail

“Outstanding service! I couldn’t ask for anything better—the team was punctual, professional, and extremely courteous throughout. Everything was handled efficiently and with great attention to detail. I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for reliability and top-notch professionalism.”

They have been excellent in terms of quality of service and value

“Home Trade Standards handles the HVAC replacements and repairs for my condo and they have been excellent in terms of quality of service and value. When I replaced my heat pump they were not only the lowest price I was able to find but quickly replaced the unit. Other times with regular maintenance services their staff has always been friendly and polite. Definitely recommend them.”
