We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Late one night, out of nowhere, I was hit by the most excruciating toothache I’ve ever experienced. The pain was unbearable, like someone drilling straight into my jaw.

Unfortunately, it was a weekend night, and my favourite dentist was out of town. Luckily for me, there was a nearby emergency dental service from my house that was able to treat my problem quickly.

Now, I want to help others who might find themselves in similar dire situations. That’s why I put together this list of the best emergency dental services in Toronto.

How much do emergency dental services cost in Toronto?

The most common emergency dental service, emergency tooth extraction, costs around $360 in Toronto.

Keep in mind that your price can vary depending on your chosen dentist and the specific treatment needed.

How We Chose

Dental services offered – We picked dentists who can provide comprehensive emergency services, including pain management, tooth extractions, and treatment for dental trauma.
Experience and credentials – We also chose certified dentists who have more than three years of experience handling various dental emergencies.
Professionalism – We assessed whether these dentists provide excellent patient comfort and pain management during emergency treatments. We also considered whether they respond quickly to calls and emails at any time of the day.
Accessibility – We evaluated whether their clinics are near major roads and public transit stations. We also checked whether they offer extended hours on most days of the week.
Price fairness – We also looked at whether their prices are fair considering the quality of their services, track record, accessibility, and equipment used.

How about we start with the fine folks who helped me with my toothache, Dental Emergency Services? With over 40 years of experience, they offer a diverse range of services like root canals, wisdom teeth extractions, and dental fillings.

One thing I can definitely thank them for is their long operating hours. Their being open until midnight certainly made it easy for me to seek proper medical attention without too much waiting.

I also appreciate that they offer zero-interest payment plans. I applied for one myself, as I was a bit short on funds when my toothache happened.

Another cool thing about them is that their dentists are multilingual and can speak many languages aside from English, including French, Cantonese, and Filipino.

Unfortunately, they don’t offer direct billing. You’ll need to do the paperwork yourself if you want your insurance to pay for their services.

Pros

  • 40 years of experience
  • Open every day until midnight
  • Zero-interest payment plans
  • Multilingual dentists

Cons

  • Doesn’t offer direct billing
  • Some rude staff

Service was incredibly efficient, fast, and of very high quality

“Last night my husband had a dental emergency and we visited the clinic. The service was incredibly efficient, fast, and of very high quality. The staff were some of the nicest and most helpful people we have ever encountered in a healthcare setting. They made sure my husband was comfortable throughout the entire process and went above and beyond to take care of him. I highly recommend this clinic for anyone needing urgent dental care. Exceptional service and professionalism!

Thank you so much!”

Another long-time provider of emergency dental services in Toronto is Walk In Dental Clinic, with over 30 years of experience. Their clinic is open until midnight between Mondays and Saturdays and can offer swift assistance for tooth abscesses, broken teeth, and other urgent issues.

One thing that truly warms my heart is their dedication to community support. They provide free dental services for refugees, ensuring they receive the necessary care without added financial stress.

Plus, they accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), which makes dental care more affordable for those who are eligible. They also offer direct billing for all insurance providers, which is highly appreciated.

Sadly, it has come to my attention that patients here tend to encounter long wait times, especially during peak hours.

Pros

  • 30 years of experience
  • Accepts CDCP-eligible patients
  • Free dental services for refugees
  • Offers direct billing

Cons

  • Long wait times
  • Unpunctual staff

I’m so grateful for the care and attention they provided

“I had a fantastic experience today with Dr. Karimi and her dental hygienist. Dr. Karimi was thorough and attentive during my check-up, making sure to explain everything in detail, which put me at ease. The dental hygienist did an excellent job cleaning my teeth—she was gentle, meticulous, and very professional. I’m so grateful for the care and attention they provided. I highly recommend Dr. Karimi and her team for anyone looking for a top-notch dental experience!”

Founded by Dr. Afif and Dr. Poulos, Waterview Dental in Harbourfront is a gem of a clinic with a strong history of over 19 years. They’re one of the most accessible clinics you can have for emergencies because they have five more locations in Toronto.

Almost all of their services can be availed in times of emergencies, whether it be root canals, tooth extractions, or dental fillings. All you need to do is explain your issue over the phone, and they can have a dentist ready for you within an hour.

Thankfully, it’s very easy to pay for their services, as they offer direct billing for most insurance providers. I’m also grateful that they offer special discounts to senior citizens.

However, I should mention that they sometimes cancel appointments at the last minute. I think it’s because they tend to get fully booked quickly on most days.

Pros

  • 19 years of experience
  • 6 locations in Toronto
  • Offers senior discounts
  • Offers direct billing

Cons

  • Tends to get fully booked quickly
  • Sometimes cancels appointments abruptly

A seamless experience from start to finish

“A seamless experience from start to finish. The booking was quick and the form easy. Dr Park made sure to explain everything in detail and the entire team put in great effort to ensure my comfort each step of the way. Would definitely recommend.”

My experience has been consistently excellent

“I’ve been a patient at Waterview Dental for less than a year, and my experience has been consistently excellent. Dr. Kelsey Li is not only easy-going but also takes the time to explain everything thoroughly. My last filling was completed quickly and without any discomfort. I’m particularly impressed by the hygienist’s professionalism. I plan to continue my visits to Waterview Dental in the coming year and highly recommend it for anyone’s dental needs.”

Started in 2014, Diamond Dental Clinics has rapidly grown to become one of Toronto’s most popular clinics. They now operate four locations in the city where you can get emergency care services like tooth extractions, abscess control, and chipped tooth repairs.

While I already find their dental services to be quite impressive, I’m more amazed by the fact that they offer student discounts. They’ve partnered with Green Shield Canada to provide affordable dental care to the students of universities like the University of Guelph and the University of Toronto.

I also appreciate that they’re a participant in the Canada Dental Care Plan, as it makes their services more affordable for those with shaky finances. They can also provide financing options should you need them.

Unfortunately, some of their former patients told me that they tend to double-book appointments.

Pros

  • 10 years of experience
  • 4 locations in Toronto
  • 24/7 emergency hotline
  • Offers student discounts
  • Accepts CDCP-eligible patients
  • Offers financing options

Cons

  • Double-books appointments sometimes
  • Sometimes cancels appointments abruptly

The team went above and beyond to ensure his comfort

“Dr. Zafari and his team at Diamond Dental were amazing. Dr. Zafari showed tremendous compassion, patience, and care for my elderly father-in-law who needed a root canal. The team went above and beyond to ensure his comfort. We really appreciated the follow up the next day. The office is clean and modern, with a great location that offers free parking. Highly recommend.”

With their ability to provide a dentist within 45 minutes after booking, EmergDENT is definitely another reliable provider of emergency dental care in Toronto. They were founded in 2017 by Dr. John Guido, a dentist with over 30 years of experience.

They can provide immediate help with severe toothaches, broken teeth, abscesses, or lost fillings. They can also handle broken wires, loose brackets, and other ortho emergencies if needed.

It’s also a good thing that they offer virtual consultations. Their guidance can be of great help to those who are living outside of Toronto and are curious whether their dental issues can be resolved at home.

Plus, they offer direct billing to all insurance providers in Ontario.

My only real issue about this clinic is its location. Being located in Etobicoke means that they’re a bit harder to reach for those living in Toronto’s eastern suburbs.

Pros

  • Lead dentist has 30 years of experience
  • Offers ortho emergency services
  • Offers virtual consultations
  • Offers direct billing

Cons

  • Location a bit far from Toronto’s eastern suburbs
  • Inconsistent operating hours
