Celebrate hip-hop’s 50th anniversary at AGO’s latest exhibit

Calling all hip-hop fans! The 6ix has been chosen as the only pit stop in Canada for The Culture: Hip-Hop and Art in the 21st Century. This exhibition showcases the vibrant hip-hop culture and its influence on modern culture.

It was put together through a collaborative effort of the St. Louis Art Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art. And let me tell you, that collaboration is really something since this exhibit features a whopping 96 works from over 65 artists!

These works vary, including sculpture, painting, video work, and fashion. One of the exhibit’s biggest spotlights is the Live Culture Force 1’s, a massive pair of metal shoes made by renowned artist Aaron Fowler.

This exhibit has been in the Art Gallery of Ontario since December 4, 2024, and is expected to remain in Toronto at least until April 6, 2025.

So far, the art gallery’s exclusive members and Annual Passholder Access members have exclusive access to it until its grand unveiling to the general public on January 7, 2025.

I’m definitely eager to check this exhibit once it’s made available to everyone. That’s why I already purchased my ticket in advance on this website.

As of the time of this writing, the ticket prices are $30 for adults and $15 for ages between 10 and 17. Admission for kids and Indigenous peoples is free.
