A Guide to Pursuit OCR, a Playground for Adults!

pursuit-ocr

Why is it that society has made us believe that playing in playgrounds is only intended for children? Just because we now have jobs doesn’t mean that we adults can’t have fun. We deserve to play, too!

Fortunately, I discovered Pursuit OCR, an establishment that agrees with me. This place is essentially an adult playground, and I’m not just making that up. Only people ages 18 and up are allowed to play here!

If you’re planning to visit, here’s a full guide to Pursuit OCR.

Visitor Tips

To ensure that you’ll have a grand time (and you won’t be kicked out), please follow these rules and regulations:

  • Be sure to bring an ID that proves you’re 18 years old or above. You’re required to show it before you enter the premises.
  • Please wear proper athletic footwear. If you’re wearing slides, boots, open-toe or open-heeled footwear, raised-heeled footwear, dress shoes, or sandals, you can’t enter the play areas.
  • Also, regular workout attire is recommended. If you don’t have workout attire, clothes that you’re comfortable in are another great option.
  • Please complete your waiver before coming to the establishment.
  • Since the play areas are full of obstacles, it’s imperative that you come here sober.
  • Walk-ins are allowed, but only if there’s space available. So, I recommend booking in advance.
  • There’s a shower here, but toiletries aren’t provided. If you want to shower after your session, bring your own towel and toiletries.

What to Expect

A Free Arcade Section

From: npchub.ca

Right before you enter any of the play areas, you’ll come across a section with several arcade machines. All these machines come with a ton of games, and the best part is that you’re free to play them all!

I’m a Nintendo kind of gamer, so I usually gravitate toward the classic Super Mario and Donkey Kong games, but I also enjoy Skee-Ball. Sometimes, I actually end up spending a good chunk of my time here, forgetting that there are other fun activities to do!

One of the Biggest Ball Pits in the City

From: tongyyemua

Perhaps, the main facility that made me gasp when I first came to Pursuit OCR is the ball pit. The ball pit here is absolutely massive. It’s 4.5 feet deep and holds about 100,000 balls. This makes it one of the biggest ball pits in all of Toronto!

Jumping into it feels like jumping into a swimming pool. I think the staff knows this too, which is why there are several flotation devices in the pit!

A Huge Mario Kart-like Track

From: pursuitocr

I already mentioned earlier that I love Nintendo games, so you can just imagine how thrilled I was when I discovered that there’s a racing track here, and we’ll be driving karts (or tricycles if you want). How can I not pretend to be a Mario Kart player with this?

The racing track is also pretty long/ I was told that it’s basically three football fields from end to end! And since it runs underneath the main floor with all the obstacle courses, my friends and I can race each other with ease and scream as much as we want.

A Laser Maze

From: pursuitocr

I watched so many spy movies as a kid, which made me think that I could work as a spy myself as well. Now that I’m an adult, I still hold that dream in my heart, which is why I love the laser maze at Pursuit OCR.

Okay, this maze doesn’t actually have lasers. Instead, they’re neon ropes strung about to mimic the look of lasers. Still, I enjoy trying to get from one end of the room to the other without touching these ropes.

I’m not the most flexible, but hey, I can still clear it. That’s a win in my book!

A Giant Slide Covered in Fluorescent Paint

Pursuit OCR also has a tube and slide—a combo that’s a staple in most children’s playgrounds. But this time, they’re 10x bigger!

The slide alone is noteworthy because it’s 20 feet long. Plus, it’s covered with fluorescent paint. So, every time I go down the slide, my vision is just a blur of bright colours!

Several American Ninja Warrior-Style Courses

From: pursuitocr

Pursuit OCR still has many other obstacle courses that I haven’t mentioned yet, but we’ll be here all day if I enumerate them all. So, for brevity’s sake, I’ll just collectively refer to them as American Ninja Warrior-style courses because that fits them the most.

These obstacle courses are usually ramps and hanging rings over pits of foam blocks. There’s even a whole section full of tires stacked on top of each other! Doesn’t all this remind you of the popular show?

Usually, it takes me two hours to finish all the obstacles, but apparently, someone managed to score a record time of two minutes and 39 seconds! Are they Flash in secret?

Soccer and Dodgeball Games

From: pursuitocr

Another thing I love about Pursuit OCR is that it doesn’t just have race tracks and obstacle courses. It also has space that’s big enough for playing soccer and dodgeball—perfect if I’m coming with a big group!

Dodgeball, in particular, is my favourite game to play with several people. It’s so thrilling trying to outmaneuver my friends!

Nerf Games

From: pursuitocr

If completing the obstacle courses is too boring for you, you might want to spice things up by playing Nerf games with your friends!

It’s actually challenging trying to shoot someone with a Nerf gun, all the while climbing the obstacle courses and finding nooks and crannies to hide from the others. It gets my heart pumping and my mind making all sorts of strategies!
