Having a dog is one of the most rewarding things in life. My furry friend, Rover, has brought endless joy, companionship, and a fair share of mischief into my home.
However, as any responsible pet owner knows, ensuring the health and well-being of our pets is paramount. That’s why I always set some time every year to visit the veterinarian so Rover can get his routine check-ups and vaccinations.
If you still haven’t found one for your pet, here are some reliable veterinarians in Toronto you can trust!
How much does a visit to a veterinarian cost in Toronto? It usually costs $100 to see a veterinarian in Toronto for an annual health check-up. However, please take note that your price can vary widely depending on the type of service and the clinic you visit. |

Some worth mentioning are their anaesthesia, cardiology, dentistry, and emergency care services. Interestingly, they have access to state-of-the-art technology and can provide more unique services like neurology and specialised procedures like spinal surgeries.
Beyond the usual medical services, I’m also impressed to learn that they operate a rehab centre where our furry friends can make a full recovery after an accident.
Sadly, not everything can be considered great with them, as some clients encountered rude behaviour from their staff.
Pros
- 50 years of experience
- Available 24/7
- Can perform specialised procedures
- Offers unique services like neurology
- Has a rehab centre
Cons
- Some rude staff
- Unpunctual Long wait times
I had a wonderful experience at this veterinary clinic
“I had a wonderful experience at this veterinary clinic. The entire staff was incredibly patient, both with me and my pet. They took the time to provide clear explanations about the procedures, which really eased my mind. I appreciated that they conducted check-ups on the floor, making my pet feel more comfortable. I was especially impressed by how relaxed and happy my pet was during the ultrasound. It’s clear that the team genuinely cares about the well-being of the animals they treat. I highly recommend this clinic!”

Highly recommend the VEC if your pup requires any specialized care

Beyond those, it’s also worth mentioning that they have unique services too, like their cryotherapy service. It’s a non-invasive and painless method to remove benign skin growths and lesions.
Another thing I love about this clinic is that it has its own testing lab and pet shop, making it easy for pet owners to get everything they need in one visit. They even have a 24/7 telemedicine service for emergencies!
Sadly, they require a mandatory examination before they can accommodate new patients. It costs $115, which can be a major turn-off for many people.

A great experience all the way through to getting lab results
“I took my dog to this clinic for her annual checkup/vaccines. Our visit was with Dr. Posluns. She was super kind and compassionate. She presented all options but wasn’t pushy. It was a great experience all the way through to getting lab results. We’ll definitely be coming back.”

4. Beaches Animal Hospital
Address: 2304 Queen St E
Phone number: +1 416-690-4040
Business hours: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (MON-SAT)
Beaches Animal Hospital, nestled in Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood, has been a trusted pet care spot since 1973. They’re best known for the many awards they’ve won throughout the years, like the 2014 Award of Merit from the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA).
As for their services, they offer almost everything, from regular check-ups to advanced surgeries. They even offer special services like radiology scans and veterinary diet planning.
However, what took me by surprise was their non-medical pet care services. They have a full-fledged pet boarding facility, which I was able to take advantage of when I had to leave Rover for a couple of days to attend a seminar in the US.
I also had him microchipped here so I can have some peace of mind knowing that he’s safe.
Still, not everything can be considered great about them, as the clinic’s front desk sometimes overbook their clients.
Pros
- More than 50 years of experience
- Recipient of 2014 OVMA Award of Merit
- Offers veterinary diet planning
- Offers pet boarding services
Cons
- Tends to overbook clients
- Some rude staff
