A licensed gynaecologist since 1997, Dr. David Gerber is one of the most experienced options you can find in Toronto. He specialises in labiaplasty and is commonly known for founding Meridia Medical, a gynaecology clinic, in 2004.
Currently, he and his team can offer a wide range of services, including colposcopies, hysteroscopies, and vaginal muscle training. It’s also a good thing that Dr. David has access to advanced equipment and can offer unique treatments like the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) laser care.
This treatment uses a thin wire loop that emits a low-voltage electrical current to remove abnormal tissue from the cervix that could potentially develop into cancer.
Sadly, not everyone had a good experience with Dr. David, as they encountered rude behaviour from the staff. Some were also critical of the doctor’s occasional tardiness.

The hospital I regularly visit for my gynaecology checkups is Mount Sinai Hospital, located in downtown Toronto.
Aside from their easily accessible location, another good reason why I always come back here is the hospital’s highly skilled staff. My preferred gynaecologist, Dr. Elyse Levinsky, has been helping the women of Toronto since 2000.
It’s also worth highlighting that Mount Sinai Hospital has access to some of the most advanced treatments in the city. While they do offer the usual, like annual exams, pap smears, and fertility treatments, they also have the Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI) Clinic.
One of the first of its kind in Canada, this clinic focuses on treating women under 40 who have experienced premature menopause.
However, one must face long waiting lines here to access most of their services.

Dr. Helena Frecker is a top-notch gynaecologist who’s best known for her expertise in minimally invasive surgery. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 2009 and is now a full-time staff member of Michael Garron Hospital.
The best thing about Dr. Helena is the vast range of services that she can provide. That includes advanced laparoscopic procedures, complex vaginal surgeries, pelvic reconstructive surgeries, and robotic surgeries.
It’s also worth mentioning that she is an advocate of inclusive care for LGBTQ and gender-diverse communities.
Overall, I heard nothing but praise from her former patients. Unfortunately, you might face long waiting lines to see her at Michael Garron Hospital.

4. Dr. Fady Shehata

Dr. Fady Shehata is a licensed gynaecologist who’s been active since 2018. Based in Woodridge, he is known for his expertise in urogynaecology, a specialised field that focuses on treating pelvic floor disorders.
That’s why he’s able to offer special services like urodynamic testing, uroflowmetry studies, and urinary incontinence treatment. Furthermore, he can also provide obstetrics services like pregnancy and antenatal care.
Beyond his services, I’m also thankful that Dr. Fady is fluent in both Arabic and English. That can be of huge help to patients who prefer speaking in Arabic.
However, it’s disappointing to learn that he can only accept obstetrics and urogynaecology patients for now due to the extremely high demand for his services. You’ll need to look elsewhere when it comes to general gynaecology treatments.

Dr. Peyman Mazidi is a highly respected gynaecologist known for his wide range of skills. A graduate of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2010, he now serves as the medical director of Harmony Women’s Clinic gynaecology department.
Currently, he and his team can offer services like laparoscopy, colposcopy, and hysteroscopy. He’s also accredited to operate in the Humber River Hospital and can perform emergency gynaecological surgeries for cases like miscarriages and ectopic pregnancy.
It’s also worth mentioning that Dr. Madizi offers infertility treatments and counselling services. If you need some assistance concerning in vitro fertilisations and blastocyst transfers, he can help!
Sadly, I heard that he sometimes arrives at his appointments way later than the agreed time. It’s also disappointing to hear that his fees are above average, making him a less attractive choice if you’re not covered by OHIP.
