Great Lakes Farm is a family-owned farm that’s mostly known for their apples. But they also grow peaches, and they’re some of the best in the entire Ontario province!

This farm cultivates a great variety of peach types, the most common being Harrow Dawn, Red Haven, and Harrow Fair. The peaches here are also considered Freestone or Semi-Freestone, which means that the pit will fall from the ripe fruit when cut in half. 

You can choose to pick your own peaches, but if you don’t have time to do so, you can simply go for the ready-picked ones. Sometimes, the farm also hosts a PeachFest, and you’ll definitely want to attend if you enjoy consuming all kinds of peach-themed treats!

DeVries Fruit Farm

DeVries Fruit Farm is located in the Niagra Region, just an hour away from the Great Toronto Area. Operated by the DeVries family since 1984, this farm boasts a total area of 200 acres, growing a wide variety of crops. 

Every June, the farm allows visitors to pick their own fruits; strawberries and peaches are the perfect ones to pick during this time of the year. Aside from these two, you can also find other fruits, such as apples, pears, plums, cherries, blueberries, and more. 

There are also fresh vegetables like asparagus, beans, lettuce, and carrots. Be sure to stop by the shop and bakery to get yourself a few treats; the peach preserves, jams, jellies, and pies are all so decadent!

Pro Tip: If you can’t make it to the farm, you can visit the markets at Niagara Falls and St. Catherines every Saturday. They have stalls there, allowing you to purchase their fresh crops without traveling to the farm itself. 

Cherry Avenue Farms

Cherry Avenue Farms was founded in 1799, which means that it has been around for over 200 years! Because of this, you can expect nothing but the freshest fruits possible. 

The peach-picking season here is from July to September, and you don’t have to bring your own boxes because the farm provides their own. This farm is also kid- and pet-friendly, so feel free to let your children and pets accompany you in this activity. 

Aside from picking fruits, Cherry Avenue Farms offers a whole range of other services. For example, there are picnic areas where you can have a lovely picnic moment with your family; there are even wheelchair-accessible orchards for people with disabilities!

Bridgmans’ Farm is another 200-year-old family farm in Ontario. They’re primarily noted for their sweet and sour cherries (the peak season is usually in July), but their peaches are also worth checking out.   

If you’re interested in picking peaches here, do note that you have to book your spot ahead of time because it’s by appointment only. The farm also offers their own baskets, which come in seven, four, and three liters, but you’re free to bring your own. 

Aside from cherries and peaches, Bridgmans’ Farm offers plums, nectarines, and apples, so don’t hesitate to diversify your basket for more flavors!

Pro Tip: Sometimes the farm opens a space for picnics. If you happen to visit when picnic isn’t allowed, your next best option is the Fifty Point Conservation area, which is nearby. 

Pardo’s Berrie Farm

Located along the shores of Lake Erie, Pardo’s Berrie Farm is a family-owned farm offering a wide range of services, including pick-your-own, wholesale, and retail. Berries are the most popular fruits, but peaches and vegetables are available here as well.

The peach-picking season is from August 7 to September 5, but it’s subject to change, so check their website often for more information. On the day of picking your peaches, be sure to stay in your assigned row to make things easier for the next customers.

Smith Two Century Farms

Smith Two Century Farms is tucked away in the foothills of the Niagara Escarpment. This location proves to be ideal because the escarpment creates a special microclimate that helps the cultivation of the cherries and peaches grown here. 

Each year, the farm hosts a pick-your-own season for peaches, and the date usually falls in August. This season only lasts about two weeks, so you need to visit as soon as possible so that you won’t miss out!

Both Clingstone (peaches with the flesh still attached to the pit) and Freestone peaches, so whether you prefer to eat your peaches as they are or you want to use them as ingredients for baking recipes, you’ll find them here. 

Pro Tip: You can bring your dogs to your peach-picking session, but you need to leash them at all times. 

Andrews Farm Market and Winery
