As someone who once worked as a freelancer, I have nothing but praise for coworking spaces. An ingenious invention of the modern world, these places helped me avoid hosting important video meetings in my messy room.
Furthermore, they offer a relaxing environment that makes me more productive and less stressed about my work. And it looks like statistics agree: 46% of people who worked in coworking spaces noticed a rise in their productivity (Business.com).
So, if you’re a freelancer or a business owner looking to improve the way you work, it’s a no-brainer to try out these amazing coworking spaces in Toronto!
How much does a coworking space cost? The average price for a coworking space membership in Toronto is $350 per month. The price may vary depending on the location, size, and amenities offered by your coworking space. |
How We Chose
1. Wework
Address: 240 Richmond St W
Phone number: +1 416-900-3280
Business hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (MON-FRI)
Let’s start with something well-known: Wework. Founded by Adam Neuman and Miguel McKelvey in 2010, they now operate 779 locations in 39 countries, including 6 locations in the Greater Toronto Area.
I tried their branch in Richmond Street and loved the range of coworking spaces they offer, including dedicated desks, private offices, and full-floor offices. They can accommodate anyone from freelancers to companies with over 100 people.
Not to mention, they also offer amazing amenities like printers, phone booths, and private meeting rooms. And the best part is that they don’t require users to pay monthly fees, as they have pay-as-you-go plans.
With this plan, you can book a space and pay only for the number of hours you’ve used it.
Moreover, they have an app on the App Store and Play Store.
However, consider that they have above-average prices before signing up.
Pros
- 6 locations in Toronto
- Can provide coworking spaces for companies of up to 100 people
- Offers pay-as-you-go payment plans
- Has a mobile app for easy booking
Cons
- Some rude staff
- Above-average prices

5. StartWell
Address: 786 King St W
Phone number: +1 647-799-5566
Business hours: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (MON-FRI)
Qasim Virjee founded StartWell in 2017. Situated on their massive 20,000-square-foot property on King Street, their common working space can accommodate hundreds of people. Alongside it are private offices and meeting rooms that have capacities of 10 to 150 people.
What really piqued my interest are their 4 corporate video production studios, where clients can host important events like keynote presentations. Each of these studios has a production crew and equipment, so you don’t have to hire one.
As for amenities, they offer things like free espressos, lockers, and call booths. They even host exclusive social events like live jazz performances and wine tastings to keep morale up!
It would have been perfect if not for a few rude staff members that can sour your day.
Pros
- Massive common working space
- 4 corporate video production studios with video production equipment and crew
- Wide range of private offices and meeting rooms that can accommodate 10 to 150 people
- Hosts exclusive social events like live jazz performances

- Sometimes forgets to respond to calls and emails

Love how versatile this place is
“Love how versatile this place is. Not only can we come in for a working session, but the boardrooms are really robust for meetings, and the studio space has everything you could possibly need. Next up, we can’t wait to host an event here!
Ps. Their coffee is excellent (unlike many other coworking spaces I’ve worked at) and the robotic tea dispenser is next level epic!”
