As a lifelong Torontonian, I’ve always loved how the city never runs out of date night possibilities, with its parks, cinemas, malls, etc. Recently, however, I discovered the beauty of cooking classes, and it just so happens that me and my partner both suck in the kitchen!
Since that light bulb moment, I’ve been on the hunt for the best cooking classes for couples in Toronto so that we could enjoy a fun date night and learn new culinary skills together. So whether you’re a seasoned chef or an amateur just like us, here are our best recommendations:
Eataly Toronto

Operating hours:
- Sunday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Friday and Saturday: 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM

As you may have gleaned from its name, Eataly Toronto offers cooking classes for couples who are looking to add Italian staples to their home cookbooks. Whether it be pepperoni pizza, pasta or classic Italian desserts, these dishes will be in your rotation after attending these classes.
One of the best parts about enrolling in this class with your partner is that you can drink some wine and beer in the process! This will definitely spice up your date night—just be sure not to be too wasted to the point where you forget the recipes.
Pro tip: You can also check out their events page to see all their upcoming cooking classes. Also, you can check out some of their free events, which include trivia night, wine tasting, vinyl nights and more. |
The Chef Upstairs

Address: 516 Mt Pleasant Rd
Contact details: +1 416-544-9221
Operating hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

The Chef Upstairs offers some of the most hands-on classes we’ve seen in Toronto. Each session is in-depth and helmed by one of their talented chefs, so you’ll know you and your partner are in good hands.
We were also impressed with how varied their topics are. You can either learn the ropes in the kitchen, in general or travel to different countries without leaving Toronto by learning how to make some of their amazing dishes.
Lastly, we highly recommend this for couples who can’t be separated from their kids. This is because they also offer cooking classes for kids so if you want to be delegated to dishwashing duties, might as well start them young right? (we’re kidding, of course)
Pro tip: If you want to extend your date, you can cross the street from The Chef Upstairs and enjoy a lovely stroll at June Rowlands Park! |
Nella Cucina

Nella Cucina is the one-stop shop for all aspiring chefs in Toronto, as it also offers every tool you need in the kitchen on top of providing world-class cooking classes. We want to focus on the latter though, as we think it’s among the most diverse we’ve seen in Toronto.
For starters, they offer a cooking school that teaches the ins and outs of the kitchen, from knife workshops to baking and anything in between. If you’re like us and you and your partner don’t have a clue about the kitchen, this is your sign to enrol!
Furthermore, if you’re a young couple with tweens or teens who have nothing to do during their summer break, you can enrol them in one of the school’s summer cooking camps!
Pro tip: If you don’t have the time to leave your house but still want to plan a cooking class date night with your partner, you can opt for their online classes! This way, you can truly spice up your night and re-enact one of the many flirty cooking scenes in classic rom-com. |

Roll This Way

Address: 14 Logan Ave
Contact details: +1 855-447-8744
Operating hours: Open 24 hours

Sushi date nights are a staple for most couples so if you want to learn how to do them at home, Roll This Way should be right up your alley! By enrolling in their classes, you can learn up to 28 variations of sushi, from the classic California roll to the avocado maki roll and more.
We also love how it forces interaction, whether it be with the chefs or the other students in the class. For instance, you can freely converse with other students because you’ll be seated at long tables.
The teaching session is quite immersive as well because aside from the chef’s voice being picked up by the mic, the place also has projectors. These projectors feature close-up shots of what the chefs are doing with their hands so that you don’t miss a step.
Pro tip: You can also enjoy their cooking classes from the comfort of your home by enrolling in one of their pre-recorded sessions! |
