Doors Open Toronto 2025

When: May 24 to 25, 2025

Where: Full list of participating buildings

With Toronto being the largest city in Canada, I’ve always wondered just how many stories it holds. From the skyscrapers downtown to the heritage homes in quieter neighbourhoods, almost every corner of our city has a unique history behind it.

That’s why I’m thrilled that Doors Open Toronto is returning in 2025. This annual event gives us the chance to explore some of Toronto’s most iconic and intriguing buildings for free!

Did you know Toronto was the first city in North America to host an event like this? It all started back in 2000, and since then, it’s become a beloved tradition that attracts locals and tourists alike year after year.

For 2025, more than 150 sites will be participating in this exciting event. We’re talking about architectural gems, cultural hubs, and hidden treasures that aren’t usually open to the public.

Add to that the year’s theme—The City is Your Playground; Get Ready to Play—and it’s clear this isn’t a typical Doors Open. The focus this time is on the fun and creative side of Toronto, with many sites highlighting sports, theatre, and music spaces.

To give you a preview, some of the participating sites include Wychwood Barns, The ZoomerPlex, and the Aga Khan Museum. On top of that, we’ll get to explore historic landmarks like the Old City Hall and the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

What’s great about it is that it’s more than just wandering through hallways. In previous events, I saw participating buildings go above and beyond by offering guided tours, exhibits, and interactive experiences.

This year, I’m planning to mix it up by revisiting some familiar landmarks while also checking out some hidden gems I’ve never explored before. With the playful theme in mind, I’m especially excited to see the stories behind Toronto’s sports venues.

Of course, with only two days to take it all in, I know I won’t see everything. But hey, that just means there’s always next year.
