One of the most memorable animated films I’ve seen growing up was Disney’s The Lion King. This gripping story tells the story of a young lion named Simba who is plunged into a world of uncertainty after the sudden loss of his father, Mufasa.
Aside from the recent film remake released by Disney in 2019, new generations can also enjoy this amazing story through a spectacular theatrical production at The Princess of Wales Theatre.
This theatrical production is directed by the visionary Julie Taymor and features music and lyrics written by Elton John and Tim Rice.
It also boasts a cast of beloved local actors like David D’Lancy Williams and Erick D. Patrick, who play the iconic roles of Mufasa and Simba, respectively.

Several critics and attendees praise the show for its elaborate scenic design and masterful work on costumes, masks, and puppets. Its take on the enchanting “Circle of Life” song was also praised by many.
The first run of this show started on November 2, 2024, but it’s expected that The Princess of Wales Theatre will continue running it until August 30, 2025.
