Japan is one of my favorite places in the world to go for vacation, and one reason for this is the food, especially the sushi. There are just so many options, and they always taste fresh. I can’t get enough of them!
That’s why whenever I return to Toronto, I’m always on the hunt for sushi spots that bring me back to Japan. I’m looking for the ones with the freshest ingredients and offering a wide variety of flavors.
Fortunately, there are many sushi spots in Toronto that have lived up to—and even exceeded—my expectations! These are my favorites so far.

I love getting the spicy salmon sushi pizza. The rice dough is perfectly crispy, and then it’s topped with buttery chopped salmon, sliced avocado, and spicy mayo. To make it even better, I eat this sushi pizza with seaweed.

During the last time I visited, my favorite entries were the Hokkaido Bafun uni and the hotaru ika. The uni had a nice complex flavor profile, and the hotaru ika had an interesting texture—crispy and soft at the same time.
My favorite part of the experience was the chef talking to us every time he served a dish. I loved learning more about the food and the complex process of making it!
