Smile with confidence thanks to the best orthodontists in Toronto

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Growing up, I always had a bit of a quirky smile. My teeth never quite lined up the way they were supposed to, and it became something I was pretty self-conscious about.

Now that I’m older, I’m finally ready to do something about it. I’m on the hunt for an orthodontist who can help me straighten my teeth and give me the confidence to smile without hesitation.

Here are some amazing options in Toronto I’m thinking of checking out sometime soon.

How much does an orthodontic treatment cost in Toronto?

The most common orthodontic treatment, traditional metal braces, typically costs $6,750 in Toronto. Your exact cost can depend on factors such as the duration of treatment, the specific orthodontist’s fees, and whether any additional procedures are needed.

How We Chose

Experience – We prefer certified orthodontists who have at least three years of professional experience.
Treatments offered – We also chose those who can provide various orthodontic treatments, such as traditional braces, ceramic braces, lingual braces, and clear aligners like Invisalign.
Professionalism – We evaluated whether they always treat their patients with respect and are always on time for their appointments. We also checked whether they respond to calls and emails quickly.
Accessibility – We looked at whether their orthodontic clinics are near major roads or public transit stations. We also checked whether they’re available on most days of the week.
Price fairness – We also considered whether their prices are fair based on their credentials, track record, and the quality of materials and equipment.

One of my prime choices is Forest Hill Orthodontics, a clinic that’s a couple of blocks away from downtown Toronto. They’re one of the more popular options, as they boast a team of orthodontists who have years of experience in the industry.

A key reason why they’re my favourite is quite simple: they offer lots of orthodontic treatments. Here, you’re free to choose whether you’ll get ceramic braces, metal braces, or self-ligating braces to straighten your teeth.

They even offer Invisalign and lingual braces if you dislike wearing something obvious. Furthermore, they offer accelerated orthodontic treatments, like Propel and Wilckodontics, which can reduce treatment times by 50% or more.

Thankfully, they’re also one of the more affordable options thanks to their interest-free payment plans. The only real thing that’s stopping me from booking an appointment here is the long waiting times many of their clients typically experience.

Pros

  • Easily accessible location
  • Plenty of orthodontic treatments offered
  • Offers accelerated orthodontic treatments
  • Has a rewards program
  • Offers interest-free payment plans

Cons

  • Long waiting times
  • Inconsistent operating hours

Always enjoy coming back to FHO

“Always enjoy coming back to FHO. The team are all exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I got my braces 20 years ago – I’m 63 now and my teeth still look exceptionally straight. Love my smile thanks to Dr V and his team! I couldn’t be happier. Thank you all so very much 😀”

docbraces is probably a name you’ve heard of, as they operate plenty of locations across Canada. They already have three clinics in Toronto alone!

It’s not surprising to me that they offer a wide range of orthodontic treatments due to their status. Some of their most popular treatments are traditional metal braces, clear ceramic braces, lingual braces, and Invisalign.

They also offer a special thumb-sucking treatment that uses a combination of orthodontic appliances and counselling sessions to encourage kids to stop thumb-sucking.

Another thing I love about them is their interest-free financing options. Theirs are also quite flexible, so you can pay for your braces on terms that are light on your wallet.

Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that they sometimes overbook appointments.

Pros

  • 3 locations in Toronto
  • Many orthodontic treatments
  • Offers thumb-sucking treatment
  • Sometimes overbooks appointments

Cons

  • Unavailable on Fridays and weekends
  • Offers interest-free payment plans

Great experience overall!

“Great experience overall!

Been with docbraces team since 2016, with 2 stages of treatments completed for my daughter. She is a teen now and thanks to docbraces she now has an amazing smile.”

Another clinic I’m seriously considering for my braces is Davis Orthodontics. That’s simply because they’re one of the more accessible options on this list, with 13 locations scattered across the GTA.

It also helps that they have a skilled team of orthodontists who can speak multiple languages fluently, like Spanish, Mandarin, and Italian.

As for their treatments, they pretty much offer the industry standard, as they can do both traditional braces and Invisalign. However, they still earn some major points here, as they do same-day services and can install your braces on the same day you booked one of their free in-office consultations.

If there’s anything I probably dislike about them, it’s their dismissive staff. Some of their former clients had unsatisfying experiences here due to the unimpressive way they were treated.

Pros

  • 13 locations in the GTA
  • Multilingual staff
  • Offers free in-office consultations
  • Offers same-day services
  • Offers flexible financing

Cons

  • Some dismissive staff
  • Tends to get fully booked quickly

I can’t express how remarkable the results are

“I’ve recently finished my braces treatment and I can’t express how remarkable the results are. A 5 star rating is an understatement for this particular location and I wish I could give more. Ranging from the orthodontist to the front desk staff, are an absolute joy to interact/speak with. An amazing service reflects an outstanding team. You can’t spell ‘Excellence’ without them! Thank you for everything ✌🏾✌🏾”

Some of the best orthodontic care you will receive

“Some of the best orthodontic care you will receive. I had gotten my braces here and got them off a few months ago now. I am so grateful for Davis Orthodontics, and more specifically Dr. G, who went above and beyond to craft a perfect smile for me.”

Founded by Drs. Pablo Kimos and Willy Dayan in 1999, City Orthodontics is one of the oldest providers of orthodontic treatments in the city. Currently, they offer standard treatments like metal braces, ceramic braces, and Invisalign.

However, what really stood out to me are their more specialised treatments. One such example is their orthognathic surgery, a corrective jaw surgery that fixes the discrepancy between the upper and lower jaw bones.

They also offer their own version of accelerated orthodontic treatment called Acceledent. This treatment stimulates the cell activity around your teeth so they can adjust faster.

Overall, they’re certainly a decent choice especially because they can provide flexible payment plans. It just sucks that they don’t have a proper online booking system, meaning you’ll have to go through some back-and-forth to learn when they’re available.

Pros

  • 25 years of experience
  • Can do orthognathic surgery
  • Offers accelerated orthodontic treatments
  • Offers flexible payment plans

Cons

  • No proper online booking system
  • Unavailable on Fridays and weekends

Another veteran provider of orthodontic treatments in Toronto is Village Orthodontics. They have more than 45 years of experience and have grown throughout the decades with seven locations across the GTA.

One of the best things about them is they utilise modern equipment like iTero 3D scanners to ensure they deliver consistent results. Currently, they offer a bunch of services like traditional braces, Invisalign, and even custom mouthguards for sports.

They even offer a specialised service called Airway Orthodontics to help treat sleep apnea. A friend of mine was extremely thankful for this treatment as it allowed him to breathe easier while sleeping, leading to an overall better sleep quality.

Another thing I appreciate about them is their flexible payment plans, as these make braces a bit more affordable for everyone.

It just sucks that they have limited availability and are closed on Saturdays until Mondays.

Pros

  • More than 45 years of experience
  • 7 locations in the GTA
  • Offers airway and sleep apnea orthodontics
  • Offers flexible payment plans

Cons

  • Some rude staff
  • Unavailable on Mondays and weekends
