Growing up in a family with a history of diabetes has shaped the way I think about health and wellness. For me, visiting an endocrinologist regularly isn’t just a routine; it’s a proactive step to ensure that I stay on top of my health.
That’s because they specialise in understanding the complexities of the endocrine system and can offer personalised advice and treatment plans. And since diabetes is an endocrine disorder, their assistance is something I definitely need.
Here are some amazing endocrinologists in Toronto that I highly recommend to those like me who are looking to keep their hormonal balance in check!
How much does a visit to an endocrinologist cost in Toronto?
Most endocrinology services in Toronto are covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), which provides free access to medically necessary services.
If you are not covered by OHIP, a visit to an endocrinologist will cost you $225.

One of the most prominent providers of endocrinology care in Toronto is Thyroid & Hormones Endocrinology Center. They were founded 10 years ago by Dr. Muhammad Z. Shrayyef, a prominent endocrinologist who’s a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE).
Their services are extensive, covering everything from thyroid cancer to diabetes. One of their best features is their on-site ultrasound with power Doppler, which ensures precise assessments of thyroid nodules.
They also offer personalised meal planning to help patients improve their health through diet.
However, a notable drawback is their long wait time for new patients. It might take weeks to get an appointment with one of their endocrinologists.
I felt so comfortable with him
“Dr. Shrayyef is a blessing, such an amazing bedside manner, he is compassionate and caring, I felt so comfortable with him. I am blessed to have found him; he’s so intelligent and truly cares about his patients. Thank you so much!!”

2. Women’s College Hospital
Services: Diabetes management, thyroid disease treatment, gender transition care, osteoporosis care, thyroid cancer treatment, and dynamic endocrine hormone testing
Address: 76 Grenville St
Phone number: +1 416-323-6400
Business hours: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM (MON-FRI)
Women’s College Hospital is also a reliable provider of endocrinology services. Founded in 1883 by the trailblazing Dr. Emily Stowe, they have over a century of experience you just can’t overlook.
They have a highly capable endocrinology department that covers many services like diabetes, gender transition care, and osteoporosis. They also provide specialised services like dynamic endocrine hormone testing to diagnose various hormonal imbalances.
It’s also worth mentioning that they have a rapid-access thyroid program that’s designed to provide comprehensive care for those suffering from thyroid cancer. This program is led by Dr. Karen Devon, an endocrine surgeon who’s best known as one of the first surgeons in Ontario to successfully perform a parathyroid transplant.
However, one thing I dislike is their lack of emergency services, which can be a bit of a letdown for a full-fledged hospital.
The facility is top notch
“A big thanks to Dr. Devon, her team, and the staff at this wonderful hospital. My wife had surgery yesterday afternoon. I am in gratitude for the skill of the surgeons and the exceptional care by the staff and volunteers. From the start to finish! The facility is top notch. Thanks again.”

3. Humber River Hospital

Address: 1235 Wilson Ave, North York
Phone number: +1 416-242-1000
Business hours: Available 24/7
Humber River Hospital in Toronto is, in my opinion, a modern healthcare marvel. Opened in 2015, this hospital combines the strengths of Humber Memorial, York-Finch, and Northwestern General, offering comprehensive care.
When it comes to endocrinology, they offer services like diabetes management and treatments for thyroid disorders and metabolic bone diseases.
They even have a paediatric endocrinology clinic that’s led by Dr. Erica Burry, a paediatric endocrinologist who handles everything from growth concerns to puberty issues in children.
Another thing that impressed me about HRH is their AI-enabled queue management system known as the Command Centre. This tech-driven solution optimises hospital operations, reducing wait times and enhancing efficiency.
However, it’s disappointing to hear their staff sometimes treat patients rudely. They also sometimes forget to provide a proper response to enquiries.
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience
“Amazing experience by a wonderful team of professionals from admin staff to nurses and surgeons.
The hospital is modern and the cleanliness was impeccable.
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Sincere thanks to Dr. Hamidi, Dr. Mcalister, nursing staff in pre op and on 10th floor.
You guys rocked it!!!! Mark Gaudet’s family”

Services: Diabetes management, thyroid disorder treatments, osteoporosis management, lipid disorder treatments, and foot care for diabetes patients
Address: 1600 Steeles Ave W #5, Vaughan
Phone number: +1 905-763-8660
Business hours: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (MON-FRI)
If accessibility is crucial for you, then LMC Healthcare could be a solid choice. Established in 1997, this clinic has 27 years of experience and 10 locations across Ontario.
Their team boasts highly experienced endocrinologists from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Dr. Nadeem Aslam stands out, as he has over a decade of experience and is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Urdu.
As for their services, they provide diabetes management, thyroid treatments, specialised care for lipid disorders, and tailored foot care for diabetes patients. They also occasionally provide free workshops, events, and food recipes designed to help improve your endocrine health.
However, I heard that their automated booking system is hard to use. Patients had to wait days before their appointments were finalised, and it’s hard to get an actual human to respond to enquiries.
One of the best clinics I’ve visited
“I’ve been going to LMC for approximately five years and have nothing but positive experiences to share. This LMC Healthcare Vaughan clinic is definitely one of the best clinics I’ve visited. The Administrative Assistants are welcoming and consistently helpful. The nurse practitioner is incredibly kind and never makes you feel uncomfortable, even when your readings aren’t ideal, such as weight. Dr. D’Sylva is exceptionally knowledgeable and ensures you feel at ease discussing medical concerns. He’s very approachable about anything.”

5. Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

Address: 2075 Bayview Ave, North York
Phone number: +1 416-480-6100
Business hours: Available 24/7
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is my go-to for keeping my endocrine system in check. Founded in 1948, they’re one of Toronto’s oldest and most respected medical institutions.
They have a stellar diabetes education program, focusing on the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes. They even have a specialised clinic that’s designed to treat diabetes in pregnancy.
It’s also impressive that they can treat a range of hormone-related issues like thyroid problems, PCOS, and pituitary disease.
What really sets them apart for me, though, is their video consultation and education services. It’s easy for me to reach out to my endocrinologist, Dr. Angela Assal, for checkups and questions about my endocrine health.
However, I should warn you that this hospital is quite popular, which means long wait times, especially for new patients.
They go above and beyond in patient care
“Sunnybrook is an incredibly amazing hospital. They go above and beyond in patient care. There is no other hospital that I would rather go to. Staff are heroes.”

If I could give 10 stars out of 5, I would!
“If I could give 10 stars out of 5, I would! The BEST HOSPITAL in Toronto. Their staff, Doctors, Nurses are all knowledgeable. Very well trained and always makes sure you have been properly diagnosed before you leave. My family and I have been to the ER a couple of times and we always go home very satisfied by the care and treatment they give. There was a time when we first went to a different hospital, they misdiagnosed it and when we went to Sunnybrook, 3 specialists came to look at a rare condition and they were able to diagnose it right away and get it treated.
Definitely worthy of being the Trauma Centre in Toronto. Research does go a long way. Keep up the good work!!!”
