Get your little ones ready because WeeFestival is now in full swing! This beloved event brings a heartwarming celebration of performing arts for young children and is one they definitely won’t want to miss.
Running until June 8, this festival transforms ordinary spaces into magical worlds for kids aged 0–6 years, inviting them to step into stories told through music, puppetry, dance, and immersive theatre.
But make no mistake. This isn’t just about keeping them entertained. It’s about sparking curiosity, imagination, and wonder in ways that leave a lasting impression.

My daughter and I already attended a show, and we absolutely loved how thoughtfully it was designed. Unlike traditional theatre, the production embraces the fact that kids experience the world differently.
The lighting was soft, the sounds were gentle, and the pacing was just right, ensuring even the most restless toddlers felt at ease.
The show we watched was called Tree, a nature-inspired performance that beautifully connects kids to the environment through storytelling.
That was just one of the many performances at WeeFestival. I’ve already grabbed tickets for Casa, a production exploring the idea of “home,” which I imagine will resonate with both my daughter and me.
Aside from those two, there are four more incredible shows you can catch before the festival wraps up, including In Tune, Cooo, Mer Océane, and Canto Khaneh Stars. If my schedule allowed, I would watch all of them with my kid.

There’s even going to be a free kids’ portrait session at Tarragon Theatre. It’ll take place on June 7 from 11 AM until 2 PM. Since slots are limited, you should book yours here as soon as you can.
Anyway, another thing I appreciate about WeeFestival is its accessibility. It’s not just a downtown event. Performances are held across three locations in Toronto, ensuring families from all neighbourhoods can take part.
Furthermore, some performances include relaxed audio descriptions, making it possible for children with sensory sensitivities to fully engage.
As someone who cares about inclusivity in the arts, I love seeing how Toronto continues to evolve its theatre scene to be welcoming for all.
If you can find the time, I highly encourage you to catch a show with your kids. After all, studies show that introducing young children to theatre helps develop creativity and emotional intelligence.
Let’s give our kids the chance to grow into aspiring dreamers and achievers who can shape the world for the better!
